No AI-written note here. I wanted this to come from me.

As a recovering high achiever, I often valued myself based on external performance: what people said, the income I generated, social media analytics, or the size of my audience at speaking engagements.

As I heal and continue to heal, God is taking away even the smaller crutches I was relying on (other than Him) to feel good enough about myself. I took the leap to be more at home and less at work (posting, networking, and scaling my business). It was a leap that I never thought was an option.

I am already finding emotional, mental, and spiritual benefits in my home, in my relationships, and in my health. Trust me, the planner and "make sure everyone is alright" part of my brain sometimes goes crazy with anxiety, but I have this peace that it will be OK.

Not because I planned well enough to make sure everyone is OK, but because I am letting God take care of me.

I am tempted to just close everything down, but God is telling me to keep it open and is giving me opportunities to share what I am learning—to free people from the high-speed chase for self-worth.

Remember what Jesus told Peter?

"Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go." (John 21:18)

So I'll get off my soapbox with this reflection question for you:

What change would you need to make, or what control would you need to give up, if you really (like, really) trusted God?

Doing this right alongside you,

Dr. Kim

The latest Good News Mental Health episode just passed 1,000 views on YouTube in 8 days!!

And honestly, this doesn’t feel like me.
It feels like God moving.

My next most-viewed video in two years is only in the 200s—
which makes this moment feel less like success
and more like evidence that people are hungry to heal.

Messages like:
“So good to know my pain can be used for good.”
“I never realized my pain could become something meaningful.”

I’m sitting in the tension of this calling—
grateful, humbled, and a little overwhelmed—
still learning what obedience looks like here.

If you have questions about mental, emotional, or spiritual health,
tell me in the comments below. I’m listening.

We just passed 100 subscribers on YouTube! 🙌

It may look small compared to what “success” is supposed to look like, but I’m choosing to reject the narrative that something has to be massive or impossible to be worthy of celebration.

Every single subscriber chose to be here because something in these videos brought value, spoke to their story, or offered a gentler, truer way to understand themselves. My hope is that each message helps you rewrite the spiritual narratives handed down by generations—and begin living a legacy nurtured in Truth and Grace.

Thank you for being here. This milestone means more than you know. 💛

If you grew up parentified — the helper, the fixer, the one who held the emotional weight of the home — Thanksgiving can feel complicated.

You’re grateful…
But you’re also tired.
You love your people…
But you’ve spent years carrying responsibilities that were never yours.
You show up with excellence…
But sometimes your heart is still healing from all the moments you had to be “strong” before you were ready.

Today, I want to speak a blessing over you:

God sees every unseen sacrifice you made long before adulthood.
He sees the tears you never cried because you were “the mature one.”
He sees the way you over-functioned to keep peace.
He sees the pressure you put on yourself to never disappoint.

And He calls you beloved, not burdened.

This Thanksgiving, may you experience a quieter kind of gratitude —
✨ gratitude that doesn’t require performing,
✨ gratitude that doesn’t require hosting emotionally,
✨ gratitude that simply receives.

May you rest in this truth:
In Christ, you don’t have to carry everyone anymore.
You get to be held, too.

To every high achiever, every hyper-responsible soul, every firstborn heart who grew up fast —
I’m proud of you.
God delights in you.
And you’re allowed to rest this year.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends.
🧡🕊️ May your day be filled with peace, gentleness, and the presence of a Father who never asks you to earn His love.

Do you guys have New Year's resolutions? After "failing" at many resolutions, I decided to have a spiritually inspired word of the year.

For 2024, my word of the year was "Favor." At first, I thought it was "fame, success, achievement" favor... God taught me quickly that it was "I don't know how I would've survived this year without His favor" favor.

As we near the end of the year, I wanted to pause to give thanks where it's due. If you are subscribed to my podcast (It's like this podcast/Good News Mental Health Podcast), comment "YES" below. I want to mention you to say thanks!

Together we are strong.
