The Yamaha e-setup starting to come into fruition! For context, I got a wonderful deal on a used DTX532 during the new year. Since then…

I upgraded the XP80 snare pad to the XP120SD and shifted the XP80 to the floor tom…

Upgraded the module to the DTX700…

Upgraded the 2 upper TP70 tom pads to XP70’s…

Although I love the internal sounds on Yamaha’s modules, this definitely took some time to get right. I was getting some annoying cross talk from the Ride pad to Tom 2. After shuffling through some different cymbal stands and obsessively changing out most of the pads and playing with crosstalk module settings to pinpoint the issue, it seems like it all stemmed from a loose memory lock on the cymbal stand. This goes to show you that with e drums, sometimes the simplest things you do not consider are the problem. The DTX700 module is a great upgrade and I was lucky to find this used for an excellent price.

So I wasn’t really happy with the way the Roland mesh heads responded in the Yamaha DTX502, so I refigured the original sets rubber pads (TP70) in the trigger settings and now they feel great dynamically! To be honest I always preferred the way these pads felt! Additionally, I picked up a Beatello Pancake Club 420 cocktail set! I am excited to play these drums live for some additional depth in sound! Funny story, these drums are the identical size, width, and wood type of the Yamaha Stage Custom Hip, but literally a fraction of the cost! ‪@Beatello_workshop‬

After some buying, selling, and searching I was lucky to find this beast of a snare pad, the XP120sd. Makes a huge difference having a TCS pad on a stand! Loving this setup!
