The Burrlington Northern, Seattle Region, is an HO model railroad set in 1973, based on the operations of the Burington Northern, MILW and UP railroads in the region from Seattle north to Bellingham and east to Skykomish, WA. It also includes the fictitious "White Pass & Rio Grande", a narrow gage road which represents the ultimate expansions and merger of the D&RGW and WP&Y to interchange with the BN at Everett, WA. This channel features video clips from both standard and narrow gage operations on the HO layout, as well as my N scale layout and many other people's layouts that I've visited. It also includes footage of the BNSF railroad taken around Seattle, and a few random music and other kinds of performances.

If you're new to this channel, (or even if you're not!), check out my "Part 8" video of what is now a long series of operations videos. It's one of the best, and I just re-edited the captions, and enjoyed watching it so much that if you haven't seen it already, I recommend it! Here's the link: https://youtu.be/ajw6zOElCAM

Ballasting track is always scary when you put the glue down. But all's well that ends well...

Furnace guy coming today - removed the plug in Bayside yard yet again. See my "Part 98" video https://youtu.be/cw-ofg7Bv7g for more details on how I did it.

Finally improved the backdrop in the corner of Burlington yard! Have been wanting to do this for at least 20 years. It took about 30 minutes. The before and after pictures below only somewhat show what an improvement it is to not see that old telephone equipment on the wall in the corner, and all the wires coming out of the two electrical panels. The ideal backdrop is one that blends in so you can stay focused on running trains.

The long-discussed merger between D&RGW and WY&Y is now well underway, and will be an interchange partner here with the HO scale Burrlington Northern. Look forward to future videos about this, thanks to an overhaul Brian Elchlepp is conducting on these PSC Class 90 GE HOn3 engines. Outstanding! (photo by Brian Elchlepp)

Happy to report that most of the skirts are back on, and most of the junk is out of the aisles. 10 days before a major op session. Whew!

It's amazing how just a couple of details can make a model railroad scene come alive! A few toy cows and vehicles, and it's looking like things are going on! I don't really understand what they're doing, but it looks like they're climbing up away from the Samish River and checking out a random boat on a trailer. I don't know why, but there they are! The hopper in the back is NW Olivine, a company which shipped fine sand to BN engine terminals in the PNW region.

Glad to say that we're making progress on getting the layout back together after the remodel project. You can't see it in the dark, but to the right of the dispatcher's desk is now a new water heater, instead of the 22 year-old one that was there before. And you can see that downtown Seattle is back in position at the foot of the stairs, too!

Glad to say that the Skagit river bridge (and hence the mainline to Bellingham) is now back in service on the 1973 Burrlington Northern. The Alco C415 is a brass model visiting from Brian Elchlepp's collection, and it will be featured in an upcoming video on this channel, so you can hear how good it looks and sounds in action. The BN only had two C415's, so, as Brian likes to joke, this represents 50% of their entire fleet of them!
