Hi, I’m Ryan ⭐ Welcome to WalkVentures!
It's officially been a year since I started my channel. I film 4K walking tours with natural sounds and no commentary. I explore different areas around Victoria (Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada) and Downtown Vancouver, with plans to film more locations over time. These walking tours are filmed for viewers who enjoy virtual walking experiences.
A few reasons I started WalkVentures:
• To share walking tours with people who can’t explore these places.
• To document how areas look today to compare with the past and future.
• To capture seasons, events and everyday moments.
• To stay active and keep walking.
Filming setup:
• DJI Action 6
• Sony A7S III
• DJI Action 4
If you enjoy these walking tours and virtual walks, please Like videos, Share videos and Subscribe. Your support encourages me to get back out there and film more videos.

Hey everyone!
You may have noticed I've been uploading videos outside my usual Tuesday and Friday schedule. That's going to happen from time to time as I build up a larger backlog of videos. Sometimes a video is just too good, or too timely, to hold onto for another few days!
I also wanted to get one of my Canada Day walking tours from Vancouver online while the celebrations are still fresh. If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to check it out here:
https://youtu.be/JARoTOxdQzI?si=Rsd8y...
I also just uploaded the high-energy Caribbean Carnival Parade from Victoria! I wanted to get that one out quickly for everyone who couldn't make it, and for those who did attend... keep an eye out, because you might spot yourself somewhere along the parade route!

The next couple of months are going to be busy. I have vacation coming up from my regular job, which means a lot more time behind the camera. I'm planning to explore some new locations, with a few possible trips up Island and maybe even over to the mainland. I'm still deciding where to go, but I'm looking forward to sharing some places I haven't featured before.
Thanks so much for watching, commenting, and supporting the channel. Every like, share, and subscription really does make a difference and helps motivate me to keep creating new walking tours.
Have a great week, and I'll see you in the next walk!
Did you catch the latest Car Show organized by Light 'EmUp.TV? Check out the Rooftop After Dark car show! At the end of the show, there was an incredible Fire Performer and LED Hula Hoop dancer.

A quick channel update!
I've been slowing down my uploads and sticking mostly to a Tuesday and Friday schedule. So far, I think it's been a good change. That said, I'm starting to build up a few extra videos, so while I'll continue focusing on those upload days, you may see the occasional bonus video pop up here and there.
I'm also planning to keep a small backlog of videos for later in the year when it's dark, rainy, and not always ideal for filming. Future Ryan will probably appreciate that.
With summer officially starting tomorrow, I have a lot planned over the next couple of months. There are plenty of car shows, local events, wilderness trails, and new locations I want to explore. I'm also hoping to finally get a proper channel trailer put together soon.
For Canada Day, I'm planning a quick day trip to Vancouver with Harbour Air. The plan is to fly over in the morning and return the same day. I'll still try to film a bit around Victoria as well, and if everything lines up, possibly the fireworks too.
One thing I've been thinking about is filming "life as it happens" from a fixed location around town. So often I'll walk past an area and then spot a classic car, an interesting street performer, or some unexpected moment just after I've moved on. With tourism season now in full swing, it might be the perfect time to experiment with spending an hour or two in one spot and seeing what happens. If those videos turn out well, they may become a regular part of the channel.
I'm also hoping to spend a bit more time on social media. It's something I haven't focused on much, but it could help more people discover the channel and the videos I've been creating.
As always, thanks for watching, commenting, and supporting WalkVentures. I really appreciate it when you share my channel or videos with your friends. Its also great to see comments and I encourage you to leave suggestions for future videos. In fact, I'm working on a few previous suggested locations right now.

WalkVentures - 4K Walking Tours
I've been thinking about the future of the channel, and I’ve decided to slow down my upload schedule a bit. Going forward, I’ll be aiming for 2 full videos per week. Tuesdays and Fridays. Along with 1 Minute Shorts posted in between.
One of my goals over the past year was to build up a strong library of walking tours, and I feel like I've accomplished that. There are now a lot of videos on the channel, and realistically I can't expect everyone to watch 30 minutes to over an hour of content every single day. With so many uploads, I also feel like some of the older videos get buried before people have a chance to discover them.
Another reason for the change is that I want more time to experiment with my cameras and filming techniques. Sometimes I've felt pressure to get a video out every day, and that has led to me posting videos that I wasn't completely excited about. I'd rather focus on making each upload the best it can be. With that said, I have a few videos scheduled this week that fit that description.
This will also give me more opportunities to try different types of content, including ambient videos and stationary filming projects that I've talked about in the past. If I discover new formats, I can start posting those on other days to fill the void.
I'll still be out filming regularly, especially when local events are happening around Victoria. There will also be times when I upload videos outside of the regular schedule, sometimes even on the same day as an event if I think it's something people will want to see right away.
Thanks for watching, commenting, and supporting the channel. I'm excited to see where the next chapter of WalkVentures goes.
A new channel trailer featuring various clips from the past year will be coming soon with a licensed hit 80s song that everyone knows..

WalkVentures - 4K Walking Tours
Lately I’ve been thinking about adding another style of video for the channel, maybe once a week or so. I’m considering setting up in one location around Victoria for an hour or two and simply filming life as it happens naturally. Just real moments unfolding in real time. I might even do walking tours that lead up to these locations.
Sometimes when I’m out filming, the random encounters end up becoming the most memorable parts of the video. People wave at the camera, smile, make goofy faces, dance, yell hello, or get excited when they realize they’re being filmed for a walking tour.
You never really know what’s going to happen next.
I think it could be interesting to pick a single location and see what naturally unfolds. Everything from locals, tourists, cruise ship crowds, various cars and other vehicles, random conversations, police activity, street performers, weather changes, cyclists, wildlife, or just the overall atmosphere of the city.
Victoria is always changing depending on the day, weather, season, and events happening around town.
I already have a few ideas like the Inner Harbour, Douglas Street, Bastion Square, Ogden Point, and maybe Chinatown/Fan Tan Alley, but I’d love to hear your suggestions.
If you could pick one place in Victoria to watch everything unfold for a couple hours, where would it be?
Let me know your ideas below or leave a comment in one of my videos 👇
It's also going to very busy soon with lots of local events including car shows, block parties, markets, cruise ships and more.. So there will be lots of long walking tours coming up, including some wilderness trails I plan to film in the near future..

WalkVentures - 4K Walking Tours
It’s already the middle of May and I’ve been out filming almost every day to keep bringing you new walking tours and local videos. I might need to slow down a little though… I can’t expect everyone to keep up with my daily uploads 😄
I’ve also been dealing with what might be shin splints, but I keep pushing through because there’s always something happening around town that I don’t want to miss. Looks like we may finally get a couple days of rain, which might be the perfect excuse to rest my foot a bit… but at the same time, there are parades, car shows and other events coming up everywhere. Definitely a catch-22!
I’ve been experimenting more with camera settings lately too. I still haven’t found the “perfect” setup, especially for walking tours, but I’m always trying to improve the quality of the videos for you. Maybe one day I’ll finally figure it all out.
There’s a lot planned for the months ahead. More local events, possible off-road trail walks if my foot cooperates, and hopefully some trips around BC again this summer, including Vancouver like last year.
I’ve also started working on a proper channel trailer and yes… it may actually include licensed music. Possibly even a hit song from the 80s 👀
Another thing I’ve been considering is adding narration to some videos. A lot of people have suggested it lately. I haven’t decided yet, but I may experiment with it this summer just to try something different. I’ve got a few other ideas too, but I’ll keep those a surprise for now.
Thanks again for all the support and leave any suggestions for future routes.

WalkVentures - 4K Walking Tours
Hello everyone! Spring is finally here, so I figured it was a good time to check in.
Over the past week or so I’ve been dealing with a sore ankle, which has made it a bit tougher to get out and walk as much as I’d like. I’m not even sure what I did to it, but I’m hoping it clears up soon because I’ve got a lot of plans to film new areas. I’ve still been getting out when I can though, especially with the nicer weather and longer days lately. It’s hard to stay inside this time of year.
I’ve also been experimenting more with my camera, and as you’ve probably noticed, things don’t always go perfectly. But that’s all part of the learning process and I’m always trying to improve with each video.
Cruise ships are also starting to arrive again at the end of the week, so I’ll definitely be out there filming them. That also means downtown Victoria is about to get a lot busier with tourists, which should make for some great walking tour content.
If you have any requests for specific locations, streets, parks, or anywhere else around southern Vancouver Island, feel free to leave a comment here or on any of my videos. I read every comment and really appreciate all the suggestions and support.
I hope you’ll come along for the ride this Spring and Summer. I’ve got some great spots in mind! Thanks again for subscribing and liking my videos.

WalkVentures - 4K Walking Tours
☀️ Spring Forward is Almost Here!
Daylight Saving Time arrives this weekend, and I’m really looking forward to the longer evenings and extra daylight ahead. More light means more opportunities for 4K walking tours after work and on weekends across Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island.
In the coming weeks I’ll be filming more frequently and exploring new streets, neighbourhoods, and scenic routes around the region. If there’s a specific location on Southern Vancouver Island you’d like to see in a future walking tour, please leave a suggestion below or in the comments on any WalkVentures video. I read every comment and your ideas genuinely help shape future routes.
With cruise ship season starting soon, downtown Victoria will be getting much busier. I’m planning to capture more tourist-focused walking tours to help visitors discover the best walking routes, landmarks, and must-see areas around the city.
I’ll also be experimenting more with stationary filming using my tripod and monopod, especially in high-traffic locations. These ambient-style scenes can capture unpredictable and interesting moments you don’t always see during a traditional walking tour.
For viewers who enjoy quieter content, I’ll continue adding more nature and scenic walks featuring trails, trees, creeks, shoreline views, and waterfalls around Vancouver Island.
This spring and summer are all about evolving WalkVentures and improving the viewing experience. I’d love to see the channel continue to grow because the larger this community becomes, the more motivated and inspired I am to keep filming.
Unfortunately it looks like we've missed our chance at snow this Winter unless it comes at the last minute, but honestly, I'm ready for warmer days. New videos coming soon!

WalkVentures - 4K Walking Tours
Hey everyone! I haven’t posted here since New Year’s, so I wanted to check in and let you know I went out for a really nice walk today at Beacon Hill Park. A new video will be up tomorrow morning, and it’s a longer one!
I didn’t cover every part of Beacon Hill Park this time, but I have in other videos and I’ll definitely keep exploring more areas as we get into Spring and Summer. Some of the ponds were frozen in areas, so at times the ducks were actually walking on the ice. People were feeding them, so they were all grouped together in spots. I also saw lots of peacocks walking around, including white ones, which was really cool to see. There were even some flowers in bloom already. It’s starting to feel like Spring, and we’ve barely had a Winter.
I’m still hoping we get at least a little bit of snow so I can film some winter walks, but I’m also ready for warmer days and more daylight for filming.
I’ve been putting together a list of places I want to film this year, but I’m always open to suggestions, so feel free to leave a comment with any locations, neighborhoods, streets, parks, or events you’d like to see. I’ve got lots planned and I’ll share more about that soon.
The channel is starting to grow, and I really appreciate all of you who watch, like, comment, subscribe, and share the videos. It helps more than you know. Thanks for being here and I hope you enjoy the new walk tomorrow!

WalkVentures - 4K Walking Tours
🎉 Happy New Year and welcome to 2026! 🎉
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has watched, liked, commented, shared, or subscribed over the past year. I really appreciate the support, and it motivates me to keep getting out there and filming.
I started this channel because I enjoy walking around and exploring different places, and I wanted to share that experience with others. Some people watch to relax, some watch to explore, and others watch because they can’t easily visit these places themselves. I also like the idea of capturing how places look right now, knowing that things always change over time. I keep the videos simple, with no commentary, so viewers can just enjoy the walk and the natural sounds.
2025 went by fast, and I learned a lot along the way. From trying different cameras and settings to figuring out what works best for the channel, it’s been a great learning experience. Over the last month, I’ve also been experimenting more with YouTube Shorts, and they seem to be helping bring new people to the channel, which has been encouraging.
Looking ahead, I’m really excited about what’s coming next. I’m still hoping to catch some snow this winter, but time moves fast and spring will be here before we know it. Longer days and more daylight are what I’m looking forward to most, since they make filming a lot easier.
This year, I plan to film more neighborhoods around Victoria, and I’m always open to suggestions. I’ve also been asked to film UVic, which I hope to do at some point. I’ll be filming more cruise ship arrivals and departures at Ogden Point, and I plan to visit places like Brentwood Bay, Sidney, Langford, and other nearby areas.
I also want to travel a bit more for filming. Possible trips include Nanaimo, Comox, Campbell River, Chemainus, Parksville, and other cities on the Island. I’d love to get back to Vancouver and possibly explore other areas on the mainland as well. If the channel continues to grow, I’d definitely consider filming in more distant locations. I'm also interested in doing some nature walks, hiking trails, wilderness encounters and things like that.
I’ve been thinking about how the channel might evolve over time. I really enjoy the no-commentary walking style and plan to keep that as the core of the channel. That said, I’m open to experimenting with things like ambient videos or possibly occasional talking or on-camera content if it’s something viewers would enjoy. Perhaps that's where wilderness walks might work for that. Nothing is changing right now, but I’m always open to feedback, so feel free to let me know what you like and what you’d like to see more of.
I haven’t spent much time on social media so far, since filming, editing, and uploading already take up a lot of time, but I may experiment more with that this year and see how it goes.
If there’s anywhere you’d like me to film, feel free to leave a comment. That could be a city, a neighborhood, a street, a park, a waterfront walk, or even a local event. Your suggestions really do help decide where I go next. I try to film only in public places or places I have permission to film.
I'll be experimenting with new video intro's and thumbnails this year too. Thanks again for being here, and here’s to a great 2026 and many more walks ahead.

WalkVentures - 4K Walking Tours
It’s been a little while since I’ve posted an update here, so I wanted to check in. I’m going to try being more active on the Community tab - and social media. Balancing regular life, work, filming, editing, rendering, uploading, and writing descriptions can definitely add up, but I’m doing my best to keep the channel moving forward. You might’ve noticed I’ve started posting YouTube Shorts as well. It’s a new format for me, but they’ve been a lot of fun to make and it seems like people are really enjoying them so far. They also provide a preview to my longer videos.
Lately I’ve been filming a bit less because it’s already dark by the time I get off work, and the weather hasn’t been the friendliest. Filming in the rain isn’t impossible, just… a challenge I’m still trying to solve. Once I figure out a better system, I’ll push through it.
I also took a break from Ambient-style videos, but I plan to bring those back - especially if I get a chance to film snow this winter. As we get into spring, I’m hoping to explore more wilderness areas, streams, hiking trails, wildlife and more. I also have plans to film around more of Vancouver Island and back over to the mainland. If the channel keeps growing, I’d love to expand even further.
I’m excited to film a lot more in the new year. I’ll also be updating my thumbnail style for 2026 to give each year its own look.
If you haven’t subscribed yet, I’d really appreciate it. It's free and easy to do - it also helps the channel grow and lets you know when new videos are out.
Feel free to leave a comment on any video you watch. Let me know what you enjoy, what you don’t, or what you’d like to see next. Your feedback helps me decide future videos.
Thank you so much for following along and supporting the channel!
