Hey everyone, we’ve got some tough news to share… the Captiva Eagle & Osprey Cam property is being sold. Because of that, we’ll be taking the cameras down this weekend since we don’t know what the new owners will want.
We’re not exactly sure what the future holds yet, but we’re hopeful. We’re planning to leave the infrastructure in place so that, if possible, we can come back once things settle and reinstall, hopefully with even better cameras. No guarantees, but we’re going to do everything we can.
We have plans for other future cameras on Sanibel/Captiva Island. We are also exploring other potential nests around the country.
We love Connie & Clive. They’ve been incredible parents and such a joy to watch over the years. Even if we’re not able to get cameras back up right away, we’ll still do our best to share updates from the ground when we can.
This isn’t goodbye, just a see you later.💛

Calling all Bird Nerds! We've launched new merch to help support our live cams and other conservation projects. We will still do seasonal mugs/designs for each nest.

Internet got restored earlier than expected. Cams/streams are back online!
Weirdly the Osprey PTZ survived the fall and flood of water. Very surprised but thankful! We will look to reinstall it ASAP. We will install it below the nest this time. This will be much safer with the cam attached directly to the pole.
Eagle mics aren’t working from Hurricane Helene damage. We are working on fixing those. Seems to be an issue on the ground, so should be an easy fix.

We are 99% sure this is Connie and Clive. They come to this spot often. One of Lori’s neighbors sent it over to us! Thank you so much to them! The pair is looking good!
Comcast said they will try to get internet restored by October 23rd. Power is already back up. So once internet is restored, hopefully all the cams work (minus the osprey PTZ cam 😢) and streams start right back up automatically.

Eagle nest update!
Thank you to Lori’s neighbors for sending over these great pictures. It seems the nest and cams are unharmed. We build nest and cam systems to survive hurricanes, but we aren’t always sure about the tree or ground below the tree.
We don’t have any updates on Connie or Clive, but seeing as they survived Hurricane Ian, we have a good feeling that they are fine. Once power and internet is restored, we will be able to see them on cam again.
We will continue to publish updates as we learn more.

Osprey Update Only, still no news on the eagles nest.
Lori (the landowner) received pictures from a friend named Captian Jack. The Osprey pole, nest, and fixed camera look unharmed. Sadly the brand new PTZ camera was destroyed.
Once we learn more about the full damage we will publish a plan for repairs. We will update everyone as we learn more.
