“Filmmaking is a medium that demands vulnerability and openness. It’s about aligning your energy with work that truly resonates, emotionally, artistically, and personally. When I operate the camera, it's all about the connection I have with the subject, capturing something true.” – Autumn Durald Arkapaw
Congratulations to Autumn Durald Arkapaw, ASC on her historic win for Best Cinematography for her work on #Sinners at the 2026 #Oscars! Autumn is the first woman to take home this award, a well-deserved and overdue milestone for #cinematography. We are so proud of Autumn for this incredible achievement, and of every woman behind the camera pushing the bounds of the craft and inspiring us every day – we can’t wait to see what you create next. 🎥

The Making of Nickel Boys
ASC Spotlight Award winner Jomo Fray shares his journey and philosophy while guiding viewers behind the scenes of Nickel Boys.
#NickelBoys continues to earn accolades, including a Spotlight Award from the American Society of Cinematographers for director of photography Jomo Fray. In this video interview, Fray explains that he and director RaMell Ross "wanted to invite the audience into the body and the eyes of a Black boy during the Jim Crow South." This intimate invitation was achieved through careful framing, with the movie shot primarily from the first-person perspectives of its two lead characters, Elwood and Turner (portrayed by Ethan Herisse and Brandon Wilson, respectively).
