One of the biggest mistakes I see people make with fitness is thinking they have to be perfect to make progress.
You don’t need to work out every single day to be successful. Life happens. Schedules change. Energy changes. Missing a day doesn’t mean you failed.
That’s why I focus more on consistency over time instead of perfection. Give yourself some grace, keep showing up when you can, and trust the process.
What’s harder for you, getting started or staying consistent?

Flex Friday
This is one of those moments that reminds me Man Flow Yoga is about so much more than fitness.
A newer member commented in our group saying he didn’t want to post a progress picture because he was 270 pounds and hated the way he looked.
And before I could even really respond, other members jumped in to encourage him, share their own experiences, and remind him that he belongs here too.
That’s the kind of community we’ve built together.
Not a place where you have to look a certain way before you start.
Not a place where people judge you for where you’re at.
Just real men trying to get healthier, stronger, more mobile, and more confident one step at a time.
Seeing moments like this means more to me than any transformation photo ever could.
Fitness matters. Health matters.
But having a group of people who support you while you work on those things matters too.
Go ahead and drop your biggest flex in the comments, whether it’s a picture, a win you’re proud of, or just something you’ve stayed consistent with lately.

One of the biggest fitness traps is believing you have to work out every single day to be successful.
At first, it sounds disciplined. Motivating, even. But for a lot of men, it creates an all or nothing mindset that eventually leads to guilt, frustration, and falling off completely.
Life happens. You’ll miss days. Work gets busy. Energy drops. Schedules change.
And when your goal is “every day,” missing one workout can suddenly feel like failure.
Instead, give yourself some leeway.
Aim for consistency, not perfection. Maybe that means 5 or 6 days a week. Maybe it means giving yourself permission to miss a day without beating yourself up over it.
The men who succeed long term usually aren’t the ones with perfect streaks.
They’re the ones who learn how to keep going even after an imperfect week.
Fitness should support your life, not make you feel guilty for living it.

Sometimes life can feel a bit overwhelming.
Often when I feel stressed, anxious, mentally scattered, or overloaded, I end up turning to something that might seem too simple to actually help: yoga.
Sometimes before I start, it’s hard to believe that breathing, stretching, and slowing down for a few minutes can actually change anything. But after sitting with the discomfort for a bit and letting the thoughts settle, something shifts.
Breathing slows down.
The body relaxes.
The stress loses some of its edge.
And almost every time, I end up thinking:
“I should do this more often.”
What do you guys do during stressful times that genuinely helps? Yoga, walking, lifting, music, breathwork, cardio, getting outside? Curious what works for different people.

It’s Flex Friday 💪
Your greatest flex doesn’t have to be a six-pack or big biceps.
Maybe it’s moving without pain. Staying consistent. Losing weight. Improving mobility. Having more energy. Getting stronger in your 50s, 60s, or beyond.
Post a physical, mental, or health-related flex in the comments with what you’re most proud of.
Let’s celebrate progress together 👊

Arthur Brooks, Jay Shetty, Jim Kwik, Dave Asprey… seeing my name, Dean Pohlman, next to these speakers for the upcoming Beyond Biohacking Conference is a pretty surreal feeling.
Also seeing that both of my presentations are already filled up more than two weeks ahead of the start date is pretty cool.
I’ll be leading a mobility session combining full-body active mobility work, aka Man Flow Yoga, with handheld vibration technology by Rapid Release. This is a tool I started using in 2025 and have started introducing to the Man Flow Yoga community over the last few months.
It’s been a game changer for soft tissue work, specifically in helping with muscle awareness, joint and tendon health, and pain relief.
The Beyond Biohacking Conference, hosted by Dave Asprey in Austin, Texas, from May 26 to 29, is going to be a pretty awesome experience. I’m looking forward to seeing my friend Garrett from @NeuFit . He’s got some pretty amazing technology that I come back to whenever I’m dealing with a nagging physical issue.
If you’re going to be attending, make sure to come see me at some point. I’ll be at the Rapid Release booth on and off throughout the conference.
PS: Steve Aoki is giving a concert one of the nights, and I’ll be staying up past my bedtime, on a school night, for that one.

I’d also love to know what you want to see more of in this Yoga for Men 60+ series so we can keep building workouts that actually help.
