Toyota just announced a major $3.6 billion expansion at its San Antonio plant.
The big news: Tacoma production is coming to Toyota Texas, joining Tundra and Sequoia assembly. The expansion will add a second vehicle assembly line, create around 2,000 new jobs, and double the size of the plant by 2030.
This is a big investment in Toyota’s truck future and could eventually help with Tacoma production flexibility.

Toyota just released its June and Q2 2026 U.S. sales results, and electrified vehicles continue to be the big story.
For June, Toyota Motor North America sold 212,793 vehicles, up 10.1% compared to June 2025. Electrified sales were even stronger, with 122,063 hybrids, plug-in hybrids, EVs, and fuel-cell vehicles sold — making up 57.4% of Toyota and Lexus total sales.
The RAV4 Hybrid also hit an all-time best-ever sales result, which says a lot about where buyers are putting their money right now. Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy is clearly working, especially with 33 electrified Toyota and Lexus options now available.
