China's five-day Labor Day holiday begins today!!! If you are in China and looking for places to travel, I recommend southwest China - a paradise for nature lovers, foodies, and fans of diverse cultures! Sharing with you three places in southwest China that I've visited and loved, all with amazing views, fun things to do, and food I wish I could eat every day...
My heart aches for the victims and all those affected by the devastating fire in Hong Kong's Tai Po district. There is a measure of relief in knowing that 144 people previously listed as missing have been confirmed safe this afternoon. No bodies were found in two of the affected buildings that police have completed searching.
What has offered a glimmer of hope over the past few days is the outpouring of support from across the nation. Numerous organizations, companies, and individuals have donated both cash and essential materials, and many others have volunteered their time and efforts. Collectively, donations and government allocations have now reached a total of HKD 1.1 billion.
China has launched a nationwide campaign to investigate and rectify major fire hazards in high-rise buildings. We must work together to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
