I was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, trained in Opera but devoted to sing the songs of my heart and of my ancestors. In the Performing world I have been blessed with the opportunity to sing on the concert stage several operatic and musical theater roles with companies such as: Lyric Theatre of Puerto Rico, Boston Conservatory Opera, Arlington Philharmonic, Tampa Spanish Lyric, Opera Orlando and others. I have also performed around P.R. USA, Europe, and Israel as a soloist and with important performers of Flamenco, Hindustani, and Jewish Music. I love writing and singing worship Jewish music, Flamenco, and Ladino Sephardic songs that honor my Caribbean Jewish history, which is the reason why the BorikenSpharad Ladino Music Project was born.
A project devoted to the research of the Sephardic heritage in the Caribbean and Hispanic America. I invite you to follow my music and research journey as we continue to bring Light in to the world! Hope you enjoy it. Salú I Berajá!

Alegre Chodesh de Tamuz 🧿
חודש טוב תמוז

When your eyes open to a deeper truth and you come to understand who you truly are, the voices of your ancestors rise in song beside you. G-d Himself parts the sea before you, clearing the path and leading you home—to the place where you have always belonged.

Rediscovering and embracing my Jewish identity has been a profound journey of healing, self-discovery, and transformation. It has allowed me to break through generations of inherited trauma and unresolved experiences, reclaim parts of myself that had long been buried, and step more fully into the person I was meant to be. Through this process, I have found a deeper sense of purpose, belonging, and connection to my true self.

My artistic expression became a way of rebuilding my family history, as I wove my personal journey into it. What once felt like fragmentation—scattered memories, silences, and a shifting sense of identity—began to take shape through Ladino songs passed down through generations. These melodies carried echoes of what was nearly lost, giving form to a history that had been broken apart and dispersed.

In singing, researching and listening, expression became reconstruction, and I began tracing meaning through the fragments of my inheritance. In gathering these pieces, I found not only my story, but a lineage held before G-d, becoming whole again through memory, voice, and return. ✡️

May our eyes be opened to HaShem’s perspective and to a deeper understanding in this new month of Tamuz!

Semanada Buena🪬שבוע טוב

Eskrito está en la palma, lo ki va a yevar el alma. Ladino saying.

Translation:
It is written in the palm of our hands what the soul is going to bear.

With every breath and every step, one moves closer toward healing. The collective grows stronger when a person discovers both their people and their purpose; the writing of our destiny becomes aligned with what HaShem intended for our souls from the very moment He gave us our identity at Har Sinai.

How much we have wondered as a people. Even now, as we continue to gather fragmented and forgotten identities, healing remains essential; to understand our present, we must first understand our past. History does not occur in vain, and concealment cannot last forever.

This has become my purpose: to uncover that which has been forgotten, neglected, and concealed. Every fragment of a scattered Jewish soul is a writing on the palm of a hand, wailing to find its way back home.

Semanada Buena • שבוע טוב

History repeats itself when we allow its silences to be louder than its facts. I am committed to telling our story; After 500 years of failed erasure and still under persecution, we are here. 🪬

The history of the Jews in the New Hispanic World is complex, painful, confusing to some and even difficult to grasp for others. Am Israel׳s greatest survival strategy in history has always been to be united. Information and education can bring about unity. Acknowledging all the parts of our history as a people and tearing down the bridges brings us closer together thus, becoming even stronger!

El korason sempre alegre ermozea el rostro i alumbra los ojikos. ✡️🕎

It’s a chill day today and it is also a good day to remind ourselves of our Light. With so much going on is easy to sink into the realm of darkness surrounding us forgetting that we are here to shine brightly.

As we approach Chanukkah let us not forget that G-d has given each one of us an unextinguishable LIGHT.

שבוע טוב לשנה הדשה ושל שובה

Even when our soul is torn in pieces, we must stand, we must remain, we must trust. Knowing that the gates of heavens are open; Our Father and King will hear our prayers. ❤️‍🩹

“Melda kon saviduria tu tefila i el Senyor Di- te mandará berajá”. Ladino

Translation:
Read your prayer with wisdom (or intention) and G-d will give you blessings.

This Ladino saying makes reference to the reading of our prayers in our Sidur or Jewish prayer book. The intention of the heart behind a prayer is what moves HaShem’s hand of mercy.

The “BorikenSpharad Ladino Music Project” is a scholar research project devoted to restore, reconcile, and preserve the historical Caribbean and Hispanic American connections to the Sephardic heritage passed along by many of our crypto-jewish and Jewish ancestors through music, language, and traditions.

“Music and language are powerful sources of historical information that are able to uncover that which history in itself has not been able to tell”. ELYEHSVArleen

Today more than ever, we will continue to bring forward the “Lus de Israel” / Light of Israel! ✡️
