Ok friends, remember my Walmart dresses that I bought a few weeks ago? Well I wore it yesterday to a baby shower for one of Zack’s life long friends. Caemon and his wife Jacy lead the young adult ministry at our church, and Zack and Kylie are a part of it. Zack and. Admin grew up together and played ball together for their whole lives. We celebrated their upcoming baby boy with a beautiful shower. Kylie, John Sutton, and I all wore blue for the occasion. I love this dress because it’s cool and comfortable. I have it in this print and solid black, and I am going to order a few more. The price can’t be beat.
Just look at our precious John Sutton. He was so good at the shower. He really is the best baby that I have ever seen. Not to mention, he’s a little doll!
Harold and I are on our way to church this morning, and we are so thankful for the blessing of being able to gather with our church family. I’m always encouraged by the kindness and faith of others, and I pray they feel encouraged by me as well. I’m reminded that each day we have a choice—we can speak words that build others up or words that tear them down. My prayer is that I will always choose kindness, encouragement, and positivity. I also want you to know how grateful I am for each of you. I truly believe I have the sweetest followers, and your love, prayers, and support mean more than you know. May God bless you and your family this week. Have a wonderful Sunday!
First things first - I have to thank you all for liking and sharing Mama Sue’s Southern Kitchen. Last night, we hit 1 million followers. You will never know how thankful I am, or how much you all mean to me. I give God all the Glory and hope that you see Him in all that I do.
What are you doing today? I’ll bet many of you recognize this picture I just made. This is a bushel of purple hull peas. I am sitting on my sunporch and I am about to shell them. I have always loved to shell peas. Something about it is calming to me. Peas are probably our favorite garden vegetable, so I look forward to canning these and being able to have fresh peas in the winter time. Let me know if you have ever shelled peas before, what is the tell-tale evidence that shows up on your hands. We also have so many tomatoes right now, so Shawn and I are going to be canning tomatoes soon.
What are you doing today? What is your favorite garden vegetable? Leave me a comment and let me know. Have a great day, and remember to be salt and light.
Hey friends! I have been so busy having fun this morning that I haven’t even checked in yet. Please forgive me!
It’s been a few weeks since our Mahjong group was able to meet for open play at our local library, and today we finally managed to all be in town again. I love this group of ladies and the fellowship that we have. Today we brought some finger food snacks and had the best time. I made cucumber sandwiches to bring. Our gardens are going crazy with cucumbers, so it was an easy choice. We talked about how much we love girly foods (finger foods). They really make a game day complete.
Mid you play games regularly, what snacks do you have? Do you like cucumber sandwiches? Leave a comment and let me know. 🥒🥪
Here’s a little glimpse of some of my favorites from my yard. When I talk about my love of gardening, I don’t just mean veggies. I am the happiest when I am working in my flowers. Are you like me, do you feel closer to God when you’re in His creation - especially flowers?
“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” I Corinthians 3:7
What are you doing today? I was just standing at my sink looking out the window. Do you ever do that? I do it a lot, especially in the mornings when I drink my coffee. I like being able to look over the yard and see everything. The sun rises right outside this window, so the morning view is always beautiful.
What do you notice about the window? Was it the tomatoes? For my whole life, when I bring in tomatoes from the garden, I put them in the window sill over the sink. Do you do that? I know that both Amy and Chris do. Maybe it’s because that’s what they saw growing up. My mother and Aunt Rosa Lee did the same, and I learned it from them. 🪟🍅
I hope you have a wonderful day today. Remember to be salt and light, and be kind.
Ok. Here is the before and after of the meat prep. When Shawn took these pictures for me they hadn’t shredded and frozen their cheese yet. You all seem to have enjoyed this post, and I have gotten several messages with questions today. I am going to record a video of Amy sharing her monthly meal plan and how she came to do this in the first place. If you have any questions about the process, leave them in the comments and I will get her to cover them. Until then, I wanted to share this with you all. That pork loin that they paid $15.03 for, they got 40 pork chops out of! Y’all. That alone is worth the planning and prep work! That comes out to 38 cents a pork chop. They used the Food Saver and bagged them in packs of 6. Can you believe that deal?
Good morning, friends. Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. I know we did. Our church always has Photo Booth areas set up for each holiday, and Harold and I took this picture yesterday. I thought I’d share it with my friends.
If you are seeing this post, please make sure that you are actually following my page. Look under the photo at the top, and make sure that the button on the top left is white and says “following.”If it is blue and says “follow,” then you aren’t following me yet. Just click on it and you will be following me. Easy as 🥧.
I am so thankful for each of you. I love reading your comments and hearing from you. Thanks for being here and for being my friends. What are you doing today?
Ok friends. I have tried to respond to all of the messages that you’ve sent since last night, but I think this is the easiest way to share the info. So many of you have asked me about the table fans we had last night. They are for flies, and they work. Amy only had 2 of them, so I have already ordered 4 more. We needed them on the tables where we were eating as well, and now we will have enough. Nobody wants flies when they are eating outside, and these really help. The link is in the comments. 🙅🏻♀️🪰
Also, the second most messaged and commented thing was the fact that we had mayo-based slaw “sitting outside.” We didn’t. Shawn and Amy have a fridge outside at the pool house for this very reason. We keep all of the cold foods in that fridge, and don’t pull them out until we’re ready to eat. If you will look closely on the video I posted of the food, you can see the slaw bowl has the condensation on it from being cold in the fridge. I promise you, I’m not trying to poison my family. 🤷🏻♀️
Hope you have recovered from your 4th celebrations, and that you had a great day. Will you still be hearing fireworks in your neighborhoods tonight? I bet we will.
HAPPY SUNDAY! ❤️ Harold and I are on our way to church on this hot Sunday morning. I’m so thankful for air-conditioned cars and homes. They are everyday blessings that we can easily take for granted. I pray the Lord helps me be more aware of just how blessed we truly are. It’s easy to focus on what isn’t going the way we planned, but God’s Word reminds us in Philippians 4:8 to think about the things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and worthy of praise. What a beautiful reminder to keep our hearts and minds focused on His goodness. One of my sweet friends from Texas gave me a beautiful necklace with a little bee on it. She told me it was a reminder to “Bee Kind.” I smile every time I wear it because kindness is something our world can never have too much of. Thank you for taking the time to watch my pages and be part of our lives. Harold and I appreciate and love each one of you more than you’ll ever know. We pray you have a blessed Sunday and a wonderful week ahead.
