Death is one of the greatest mysteries of life. It is a moment every human being will face. But for the believer, death is not the end — it is a transition.
The Bible teaches that we are more than just a body. We have a soul — the eternal part of us that lives beyond this earthly life. When the body returns to the dust, the soul continues.
In Ecclesiastes 12:7, it says:
“And the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”
For those who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, death is not destruction but entrance into His presence. The apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:8:
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
This means that immediately after death, the believer’s soul is with Christ — in peace, rest, and glory.
Jesus also gave us insight in Luke 23:43, when He told the repentant thief on the cross:
“Today you will be with Me in paradise.”
Notice the word today. Not after many years. Not after uncertainty. But immediately.
