Alright, legally distinct Coolrash/Daredevil Mario. What do ya’ll think? This one I wanted to be a LOT more careful with cuz in canon, Coolrash is literally just retro Mario possessed by Satan, so I figured theres NO way I’d get away with literally retro Mario with evil eyes. I’ll add plumbing tools to his belt too to remind ya’ll this guy is indeed Mr evil plumber man. What do ya’ll think, I’m sure I’d get away with this one BUT would ya’ll be able to tell this is Coolrash though? Let me know in the comments.
So here’s a general idea of the tweaks I’mma make to my MX model, they’re small changes but they tackle key aspects of Mario’s appearance that make him look less like Mario but you can still tell it’s MX. This design is a combination of his canonical appearance and various popularised MX designs endorsed by RazzDazzleDoo, plus some of my own inclusions such a tool belt (it will have a lot more tools than the artwork suggests). I forgot to add this detail but I will give MX his black finger nails as thats actually (according to the fandom wiki) a canon trait and not just a stylisation choice for his Pillar Chase recode model, and that WOULD enforce the fact his not wearing mario’s white gloves. I’m CONTEMPLATING swapping the sweater for a T-shirt or the overalls for pants, I mean, it would be the safer option obviously, but WOULD I need to go that far is the question… 🤔
Given the Pillar Chase MX copyright concerns I think I’m gonna redesign my MX model, not drastically like Brutum. But the whole reason I felt comfortable using MX in my animations in the first place was cuz Bladeninja was getting away with using him in Pillar Chase so MX being replaced by Brutum threw that out the window for me. Fortunately I’ve noticed that MX’s canonical design is actually a bit more distinct from mario than his pillar chase design, such as having a bumpy nose, and an X shaped moustache, and square shaped cap. Where as MX in Pillar Chase has a round nose and a moustache shaped like Mario’s (probably designed after his Mario’s Madness design) so I’m thinking I will remodel him (AGAIN) with his canon facial features, AND I’ll also give him some of his characteristics he’ll have in The Catastrophes, primarily his belt, and probably add tools to it etc, minus the buttons on his overalls cuz Mario has those and MX canonically doesn’t. One thing I WILL keep from the Pillar Chase/Mario’s Madness sorta design his the symbol on his cap, cuz again, its a different shape from any official Mario cap design (sure its probably BASED off of the shape of it from 8 bit form but we never seen 8 bit Mario officially from the front). So yeah MX will be modelled after a combination of various popularised designs of him accompanied with some extra plumber-esque characteristics to make sure people know its MX while looking that bit less like Mario.
