Here is why I don't think AI will completely replace programmers. I was recently vibe-coding something, and I got a weird bug, but I was quickly able to describe it to the AI because I had personally seen it before. The geometry seemed to extend to infinity, and that looked to me like a clipping plane problem. I have seen it before while making a software renderer from scratch, and I instantly recognised what the problem was. Because of that, I was able to tell AI exactly where the problem was, and it was able to fix it. The models become better and better, and AI can catch bugs that humans can miss, but there are also bugs that AI struggles to fix on its own. At that point, only a programmer with deep experience can solve the problem. So even if most of the programming will be done with AI in the future, there will still be programmers with a lot of experience using it. So go and gain that experience by making projects! I was able to fix that bug because I had personally fixed it before myself. Just by reading about it in a book, you won't remember it; you need to make projects!
