Academic videos about ancient mythology and religious history.
From Zeus to Zoroastrianism, the Vikings to the Vedas, and from Sacrifice to Spirituality, we explore the stories behind the stories in mythological and religious texts.

Apologies for anyone who tried to use the database yesterday, it was a bit slow as I added thousands more narratives. This is just a quick post to let those who are interested see how much usage is made of the database, and why improving the data quality is important. I thought the best way to do this is to produce a dashboard for myself to keep an eye on things.
The bottom line is we are getting around 10-15,000 queries a day on it. I have to be cautious and say some are from bots/AI scrapers, but they are not getting narrative information. From that point of view it is being well used, and from my point of view I think it is quite successful in what it is trying to achieve.

I've had the most amazing week away. It was a real honour to be asked to lecture about Old Norse mythology at the Borre Vikinglag, in front of Norwegians (and thanks to Kim Hjardar pictured below who helps organise the market). Then the next few days, being part of a market where authenticity to the lifestyle of those who took part in Viking activities was incredibly interesting.
I will make a video to catch you all up on everything, not only the stories of Norway, the people I met (including Patreons) but also the work going on with the database. Some immense progress has been made. Whilst I was away I managed to get my head around some issues and have managed to resolve many of them. The result is that the database has now had around 42,000 narratives updated today which previously had errors, and I have added an addition 30,000 narratives in the last hour. The database is at around 95% quality, up from around 80% or so.
This is a huge achievement, and this only happened because of your support. And so thank you so much for everything. Until tomorrow!

Another update to the Folklore Database is if you browse a Berezkin motif you can now find above the map (where it used to say click to see a clustered projection) a link to a Buckminster Fuller Airocean / Dymaxion Projection map. This opens on a new tab, and is in a different format. But I thought you might like to see it now and give feedback and I'll work on the look and feel when I return in a week or so.
This projection is often used as it helps visualise humans migrations more easily.

Should the Folklore Database be opened up to allow AI to scrape its data? I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts?

I forgot to post this on the live stream, apparently I promised you all a picture of me on the Starship Enterprise (this is from the episode Parallels)... It's nothing to do with myth, but you do get to see me with hair!
