I have a question that’s a bit different than what I usually talk about and it’s scary for me to ask :((

I mentioned before that I have chronic illnesses, one of them being lipedema. It requires 6 surgeries to fully remove it and my insurance is refusing to cover it.

I got a lawyer (which also came with some costs) and I’m doing my best to handle everything by myself, but I’m realizing that as much as I’m trying, even with the lawyer it can take years before things are settled (and no guarantee that my insurance will pay anything).

You guys suggested multiple times before that I start a gofundme.

I’m the type of person who really struggles with accepting help and is usually the one to help others, so I didn’t really think anything of it.

But in the last weeks I’ve been thinking about it more and more.

Very very hypothetically, how would you feel about me having a gofundme for my surgeries?
Please be honest, because the last thing I’d want is to disappoint my community in any way, shape or form. 🤍

It’s officially day TEN post op!
I’m feeling MUCH more like myself and am slowly but surely getting more and more mobile with my arms! My energy is still low - but that’s normal. :)
It’s also my first day without pain killers!
And most importantly - NO LIPEDEMA PAIN WHERE I HAD SURGERY WOHOOO

Unfortunately, I got the news yesterday that my insurance doesn’t want to pay for a single surgery, despite me having SIX separate doctors evaluations deeming it necessary. :(
I don’t know what to do, I’m meeting up with a lawyer in two weeks to discuss my options so we’ll see.

This happens a lot in Germany apparently, women do everything right, gather all documents and insurance STILL finds a reason not to pay.

I didn’t choose to be chronically ill, I don’t want to have six surgeries but it’s the only way for me to get my quality of life back. 💔
So yeah this sucks lol

It was the first time in my life going and I loved every second of it SO MUCH! The people, the places, the nature, the cleanliness, the vibe,… 🥹🥹

It was beyond magical and also I sang to cows and they walked up to me so lol that was kinda cool

ALSO: my surgery is in a week from now and health wise, it’s been such a draining and rocky journey these past months and I’m SO grateful to have had such a calm and fun time for Easter 🐣
