"We read in the Bible that Jesus died for us, we as Christians also confess it, we preach it, but when you really picture it-when you see before your eyes the stabbing pain Jesus had to endure with every breath, the mocking, the betrayal of his friends-then it is as if this sentence, these words, turn into an unimaginably sorrowful and at the same time hope-filled image.
"Jesus died for us" is not a simple phrase, not rhetoric, not exaggeration, it is the truth. It is so real, and yet so often we lack the imagination to grasp this incomprehensibly innocent act of love. Its like we say it but don't understand it."
