Developers -🚨This Needs Your Immediate Attention 🚨
One of the biggest npm packages currently used in almost all projects worldwide has been compromised and injected with malware. An attacker appears to have gained access to a maintainer account and injected a malicious crypto dependency into the package. The package I'm talking about is none other than Axios.
We all understand how serious this is, as it can impact any project using Axios. Please treat this as a high priority and follow the action items.
Action Items:
1. Please avoid doing fresh npm installs blindly.
2. Lock the axios version ASAP (don't keep version: 'latest' / ^) in your package.json/lock files.
3. DO NOT upgrade until we have further confirmation from official Axios maintainers.
Also, inform your clients proactively so they’ll be aware and can take necessary precautions.
