YNAB IRL with Tyler Smith

I help people use YNAB to stop worrying about money.

It really is as simple as giving every dollar a job—but you have to experience it to believe it.

YNAB IRL with Tyler Smith

Just watched this video called “YNAB For High Income Earners | Lee’s Category Structure”: https://youtu.be/-UdcZdCPb1U?si=xBiKB...

It got me rethinking everything about how I’ve been using YNAB lately.

I’m sure some of you can relate. You set up your budget structure once, maybe years ago, and it just sort of… lives in the shadows. You add categories, allocate funds, ignore leftover bits, rinse, repeat.

But this video made me imagine that there might be smarter, more intentional, or more FUN ways to structure my spending plan.

Some of the thoughts I’m wrestling with:

What if I have too many spending categories? Do i really need one for every subscription?

Am I artificially limiting flexibility or creativity with how I group things?

If you use YNAB (or any envelope-style budgeting) already, how often do you audit or rethink your structure?

Do you ever overhaul it from the ground up?

Every time I see someone else’s cool YNAB setup I’m seriously tempted to reset and reorganize my YNAB. 😂

Let me know:

Do you ever feel stuck or rigid in your budgeting setup?

What’s one thing you’d love to change or try if you were designing your budget from scratch today?
