i don’t think people talk enough about how quiet heartbreak really is

not the dramatic kind
not the kind you can scream out of your chest

but the slow, ambient kind
the one that sits with you at 2:17am
while everything is still
except your thoughts

it’s in the songs you can’t finish anymore
the messages you re-read but never send
the version of you that existed in someone else’s world

and maybe that’s why we create
not to forget
but to give those feelings somewhere to live
