An Israeli startup called Hemispheric has spent six years in secret building something that has never existed before: an AI model designed to decode human brain activity the same way ChatGPT decodes language.
The company was co-founded by Dr. Hagai Lalazar, a computational neuroscientist, and Gidi Littwin - the co-inventor of Apple's Face ID. Their model, called Descartes, was trained on over 250,000 hours of brain data from more than 100,000 participants. The goal is to make brain health as routine and measurable as a blood test - targeting conditions including PTSD, depression, Alzheimer's, and traumatic brain injury, which together affect roughly one in three people worldwide. Patients simply wear a lightweight headset for 15 minutes, with no surgery or invasive procedures required. "Every major organ in the body has objective tests, except the brain," said CEO Dr. Lalazar. "We are working to change that." Israeli innovation, once again pushing the boundaries of what's possible. 🇮🇱🧠
Mazel tov, champion! 🥇 Israeli judoka Ariel Shulman took home gold in the -60kg category at the Sarajevo European Open in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We're so proud of you, Ariel!
When Honduran President Asfura visited Israel and personally requested help for citizens facing serious eye conditions, Israel answered the call. An Israeli ophthalmology team traveled to Honduras, treating 155 patients, 136 of whom were operated on, marking the first step in a larger Israeli assistance initiative. In August, specialized glaucoma equipment is set to make its way to Honduras, and in November another Israeli medical delegation is planned, with a training program to help local emergency responders handle mass-casualty situations. The mission is a testament to Israel's longstanding commitment to sharing its world-class expertise with nations in need. With more aid already planned, the mission reflects both rapidly warming ties between the two countries and Israel's willingness to extend a helping hand wherever it is needed. 🇭🇳🇮🇱
32 years ago today, Iran's regime, together with Iranian regime-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah, murdered 85 innocent people at the AMIA Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. To this day, not a single person has been convicted for this heinous act of antisemitism and terrorism. We remember. 🕯️
Today would have marked Jewish heroine Hannah Szenes' 105th birthday. In 1944, while on a secret mission to rescue Jews in Hungary, she was arrested by the Nazis and tortured repeatedly, but she refused to reveal any information. On November 7th, 1944, she was executed at the age of 23. Today, we remember and honor her bravery and her sacrifice.
The Maccabiah Games, an international Jewish sporting event held every four years in Israel and often called the "Jewish Olympics," delivered more than athletic competition this year. Around 1,200 international athletes and guests, many visiting Israel for the very first time, fulfilled a lifelong dream by celebrating their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. The unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime ceremony was made possible by the Maccabiah, KKL-JNF, and the Western Wall Heritage Foundation. Mazel tov! 🇮🇱✡️
Israeli startup NINA Medical is changing how enlarged prostate is treated. Their device delivers focused ultrasound waves through the skin, destroying obstructive tissue without any surgical instruments or hospitalization. Being tested at Rambam Health Care Campus, this Israeli innovation could offer millions of men a safer, simpler path to relief.🇮🇱🥼
