Returning a huge, abandoned chateau estate to its 17th Century glory. Decades of destructive forestry ruined the medieval estate of Chateau de Rosieres in southern France. Follow our journey to rescue 130 acres of the castle's historic lands, returning the estate to its self-sufficient heydey of the 17th Century: Rich, productive vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, a working farm, vineyards, ornamental gardens and much more... All based on environmentally-friendly, sustainable principles.
We are Amy and Marc, a French-British couple with young children and far too many birds and animals. We're also painstakingly restoring the medieval castle and outbuildings. Marc rescued a ruined 19th century Greenhouse and has spent 3 years rebuilding it at the chateau. Today we are installing the tropical pond basin, made from an old fuel cistern, into the chateau greenhouse. It will become a beautiful and functional element that will serve to help keep the greenhouse humid and warm.

So this is big news! Your reaction to our latest video has sent it soaring, and the channel is growing and being shown to an even wider audience. We'd like to thank you so much for this support, which not only provides us with the courage to tackle such a huge project, but also helps to support it through the YouTube advertising revenue. Some of you might not know Margot, who has returned to work with us as the head of our non-profit foundation, which works on cultural and educational projects. The gardens will be a keystone of this foundation, and the YouTube revenue that we receive goes directly into this charity's bank account. We current take young apprentices to work with us fairly regularly, and we invite local schools up to spend days with us as often as possible, but we would also like to expand this programme. This year we will also be inviting more musicians to play in our concert series, and to again work with local schools. Education is our passion, and as an area designated 'rural development', we want to support the ability of young people in this rather remote area to understand, appreciate and ultimately work in (if they wish) this region of outstanding beauty, incredible biodiversity, and productive agriculture. Hello everybody! As you may be able to guess, there is quite a lot that goes on here at Rosières that doesn't always make it into our formal YouTube videos. From side projects, to visits around the local area, to garden maintenance and seasonal updates there is never a shortage of activity here. Therefore, for those of you interested in seeing more work behind the scenes in the gardens, we’ve decided to launch channel memberships!
Twice a month (starting next Thursday, May 7) we’ll be uploading a nice selection of more informal and personal videos, as well as visits to parts of our garden and local places that we don’t share on the public channel. Hope you'll join us!
