Why We Must Read "The Land Behind Us" Today: East Prussia, Refugee Crisis, and the Art of Resilience

Hello Community,

The foundation of our novel, "Hinter uns das Land" (The Land Behind Us), is not fiction, but the authentic, 80-year life story of Inge Feyerabend. Our goal is to bring this personal chronicle to life as a mirror reflecting German history.

1. East Prussia: More Than Just "Lost Homeland"


The first part of the strategic trilogy, "Roots In The Wind", takes us into East Prussia during the 1930s. It is a world defined by:

Deep Roots: The protagonist, Inge, grows up on the Gallitten estate – a life shaped by nature, tradition, and hard work. We depict not just the idyll, but also the clear rhythms of a world on the brink of collapse.

Historical Precision: Our novel is the result of 18 years of research, going far beyond family narratives. We have meticulously consulted historical maps, weather data, and records to authentically capture the atmosphere and the decisions made by people during that time.

2. Learning from History: The Universal Lesson


The story of Inge and her family – from the flight in 1945, the loss of her father in Danzig, the internment in Denmark, to the new beginning – is a deeply human lesson about:

Resilience: How does one find the strength when the homeland is lost, existence is threatened, and trust is shattered?

Trauma and Healing: The invisible scars of displacement and how a new generation builds upon them.

Redefining Home: The realization that home is not a geographical place, but a feeling of inner peace and family connection (depicted in Part 3: "Stone By Stone").

3. The Immersive Experience: Soundtrack as Memory


To make these themes palpable, we created the soundtrack "Beyond & Before Music". The songs, which span genres from melancholic Folk ("Roots In The Wind") to epic Rock (Adelheide’s Wisdom), serve as the emotional map of the novel.

The novel and the soundtrack are inseparable. The music reflects the emotions where words reach their limits.
