Grant funding from the AZ Blue Foundation helped Advance Community provide food boxes and expand the Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP) to serve more Latino adults in Maricopa County.

Food boxes are comprised of raw ingredients for cooking: All whole grains, eggs, lean proteins, quinoa, healthy oils, fresh fruits and vegetables.

Latinos are disproportionately affected by diabetes because it’s so embedded in the culture. The Educational Program’s classes are given in Spanish, which is essential to be able to connect with and reach the Latino community.
