G’day! I’m Iain, and this is The Cultivating Curmudgeon. If you want a garden that actually feeds you—without the "influencer" fluff—you’re in the right place. I’ve spent my career in engineering research, and I apply that same "tinker and test" logic to my backyard in East Victoria Park.
What we do here:
Rare Crops: Growing unusual fruits and veg you won't find at the shops.
The "Science" of Pest Control: We test what works, like our pungent homemade garlic-oil sprays.
Real Food: We’re making real cheeses, cultivating mushrooms and bake with organic, old-time grains.
Smart Self-Sufficiency: Practical tips for DIYers and retirees who want to use their heads as much as their hands.
This is for the doers who value honest results and a bit of dry wit. Subscribe and let’s outsmart the fruit flies and bake some real bread together.

Busy week or 2 coming up! Back at work <sad> but on the bright side we have some potting/windowsill herb garden demos coming up. 2 for the "retired" community and another for a local school special needs class which I am particularly looking forward to. These kids need purpose and community and I think community gardens are a great place for them to get out and about, meet people and grow some great food!

Time for the next major project! My cheap greenhous is being dismantled and heading off for a high school project to be reincarnated as a shade house. I committed (to the asylum) to a new greenhouse from @mazeproductsau which will arrive late this month/early November. Its the 8x16 Glory greenhouse. Dismantling and construction videos to follow.
