Yesterday’s video is another entry in my Smooth Jazz Licks series. In this lesson, I break down 3 smooth jazz licks in the key of A minor that you can use in a variety of musical situations. All three licks are built from the pentatonic scale and include some of the key ingredients of a great smooth jazz solo: jazz phrasing, soulful pentatonic ideas, and, of course, octave playing.

Hi everyone - I go back to the Blues for today's video. I'll show you three licks that work great on a V chord on a Blues Shuffle.

It's still cold with plenty of snow here in Montreal, but tomorrow's YouTube video should warm things up. The topic is playing Earth Wind and Fire's "Let's Groove". The video will be live at 10:30 am EST. I hope that you enjoy it!

Hello all – Happy New Year!

Just a quick note to let you know that my latest Lesson Pack will be released tomorrow. It is titled “Excellent Arpeggios” and in it, I cover my favorite way to play the absolutely essential arpeggios on guitar. This is a comprehensive study of playing the arpeggios for the chords that we use in Pop, Jazz, Blues, and R&B, namely: Major, Minor, Dominant 7, Major 7, Minor 7, Minor 6, Half-Diminished, Fully Diminished, and Augmented. I clearly demonstrate my favorite positions (that lie easily on the neck), and each arpeggio gets 4 fingerings. Full Tabs are included. These are the same fingerings that I was taught at University and I use them every single time that I pick up the guitar. So much music can be created using these arpeggios – and it’s a fantastic way to learn the fingerboard.

Look out for the YouTube video on this Lesson Pack that will be released tomorrow.

Thanks as always for your support!

Hey everyone - tomorrow I will be publishing my last video for 2022. The topic will be creating lines that outline the chord changes on "Autumn Leaves".

I'd like to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for your support this year - your kind comments and appreciation for my content is inspiring. I look forward to producing many more videos in the styles that represent my playing the best: Jazz, R&B, Blues, Soul, and Funk.

Hey everyone – I am pleased to announce that I am putting the finishing touches on a brand new lesson pack: 20 Smooth Jazz Licks (that you can use on the gig).

The pack will feature 20 tasty, jazzy licks that I have created over a typical R&B backing track and are licks to be played on standard R&B chord changes. These are licks that you can translate to any R&B tunes that we normally play on gigs.

For those of you who are familiar with my YouTube teaching style, the licks will be broken down similar to how I do my videos: I’ll play the lick slowly, talk about the chords and discuss the theory behind the lick. It is like a mini guitar lesson when explaining each lick.

I am extremely happy with how the lesson package is turning out and I hope to have it ready for sale in the next 10 days on my website. I will post a video about the pack once it is ready.

Thank you again for all of your support!
