The ‘Paritta’ contains several powerful ‘Suttas’, which are the wisdom put into verses with power and protection, offering blessings throughout the reciting of the ‘Paritta’.The practice of reciting the Buddha's verses has been since the beginning of the Buddhist history by the Buddhist monks, as the Buddha himself had recited them during the times of epidemics and plagues to bring peace and tranquility to humankind. It is believed in the Buddhist culture that reciting these Buddha’s ‘dhamma’ the Buddha’s wisdom, can bring healing power protection, and peace to the mind of anyone.
