I’m a gamer-engineer who’s been designing VR gunstocks since the early days β€” back when nothing else was around.
Now I make them lighter, steadier, and easier to use β€” no gimmicks, just headshots.

Did anyone ever play GunLock on the DK2? You can see a video here:
https://youtu.be/j81MVzJ_2zA

GunLock was the first moment I realised we had made it in VR, up until that point we hadn't been able to appreciate just how good things could get.

It was a tech demo, it never even got released but just look at the level of detail. Using just a 360 controller you could operate all the functions of a pistol including racking slide, you could crouch and pick up bullets off the floor, individually stack bullets in magazines. It was just a beautiful first look at where VR was going.

I had a few comments from my Sniper Elite VR review (rant) but I stand by it. That bloody game was a shambles considering it came the best half of a decade after GunLock that was probably made by one hobbiest in a few months. Unforgiveable really given how far VR should have come.

I saw Cubit had made another excellent video earlier today about a sim setup, I just commented how I struggle to play any other genre ever since I first picked up a virtual gun. Nothing else seems to cut it, I used to love sim games...

Well VR certainly made it this time and I'm very excited about the future, gun lovers out there should be excited too. Lots of good stuff happening. I'm working on several new projects at the moment besides my work on the CQB and Elite 2.0 rifles.

We will have a realistic, fully recoiling M4 style VR rifle before 2023 and that's going to be a lot of fun. Hopefully other companies will help drive the innovation but with the prototypes I have now, we are guaranteed to have at least one product out there to be purchased at a price we can afford πŸ‘

The Quest 2 is a wonderful platform. Although I use PC VR I will ensure whatever solution I use is compatible with stand-alone play without a PC.

Good things to come, stay safe all πŸ™

I just wanted to take the time to explain more about the upcoming Elite 2.0 gunstock. I have had so much interest in this and its good to see people excited, there are some caveats to that design I need to clarify.

As the design is top mounted it means the rear tracking ring is occasionally occluded depending on head movement. I have been careful in the design to include 2 thin aluminium struts to sit between tracking leds on the rings but due to head positioning, at times there is still occasional drift of rear controller. Mostly this is not an issue but it is inherent with all top mounted designs that unavoidable tracking drift is part of it in some instances.

The handling is more realistic due to the hand positions and the weight from the top will feel far more authentic to traditional shooters who shoot airsoft or firearms. This brings me to the second point, the weight. As the Elite 2.0 design is far more realistic, especially with the addition of a printed rear mil-spec buffer tube and aftermarket Python stock, the weight has increased. This means for longer sessions it could become tiring.

This may not influence potential customers but I need to point this out. The CQB stock is far lighter, its rigid (the Elite 2.0 has rear magnetic grab so will disconnect under pressure to preserve tracking ring from snapping) and 100% tracking clarity, it allows use of all weapons and particularly nice with bolt-action rifles. The soft reconnect of controller on half-grab doesn't 'snap' the tracking like magnetic or plug in designs.

If you really want the more realistic feels and experience as well as the tactical look then the Elite 2.0 can deliver there, if however you are more interested in utility, longevity and performance then the CQB is superior.

Also as a final point, if you are patient and are not in a mad hurry to pick up a gunstock, I have been working on an incredible new design. It's not been seen before but it gives 100% tracking clarity, it isn't bottom mounted, gives a half-grab front grip and allows complete unhindered transition from grenades / pistols to 2-handed weapons. It could be the perfect competitive stock. Its ultra lightweight and will be around half the price of the CQB. It is an unusual minimalist design and not without its own caveat though as you will quickly see! I should have something purchasable in January if anyone would be interested.
