Ice Fishing has been GREAT so far this 2026 season! Made it out to Battle Lake Alberta this past weekend for my 45th Birthday and Thea’s 10 birthday! We caught a bunch of little pike - the action was non stop and made things fun and interesting at times! Great start to the season!

What an AMAZING day of weather and fishing we had!! We got into a bunch of lake trout including this 41” long beast which just happened to be the first fish of the morning! What a way to wake up after a boat ride!!

That wraps up another successful last full day of our trip and what can I say but - HOLY COW!! What an amazing day of fishing we had. The plan was to show dad some new sights around Great Slave Lake but we found some world class lake trout fishing the next point over from the Lodge! It was supposed to be a quick stop along the way but we stayed here all day and fished for lake trout in 4 - 10 ft of water - ALL DAY! The action was non stop every time we trolled past a set of massive boulders that big fish were hiding behind! I was able to troll my 8wt fly rod and managed to catch some big beautiful lake trout and got some amazing footage! I’ll have a big task ahead of me editing the video for this day!
Another amazing trip to Frontier Lodge on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake has come to an end! Thank you to Corey Myers - Lodge Manager and good friend for inviting me to come up and do some Guiding again this year!! Hope to be back again next year… it will be tough to out perform a day like we had today - another 60 fish day and my arms and shoulders are officially tired! Time for a vacation from this vacation… haha!

We had an absolutely AMAZING day of fishing on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake! 60 Lake Trout caught in some wonderful and sunny weather! Dad put on a catching clinic and caught some amazing Lakers! Good job dad!!
