Possibly the most expensive sentence in business history.
It's a fascinating phrase. It sounds responsible, experienced, and reassuring. It also happens to be the unofficial slogan of countless companies that no longer exist.
Every major disruption was initially dismissed as a trend, a fad, or a problem for someone else. The internet was overrated. Social media was a distraction. Smartphones were unnecessary. AI is apparently next in line.
The funny thing about change is that it rarely asks for permission before showing up. While some organisations are busy debating whether the future is coming, others are already building it.
Experience remains one of the most valuable assets in business. But experience without adaptation is just nostalgia with a LinkedIn profile.
The market has never rewarded people for what they knew. It rewards people for how quickly they can learn what comes next.
Because careers rarely become irrelevant overnight.
They simply wake up one day and discover that the competition didn't spend the last five years saying, "We've always done it this way."
