Hi this is Tirtha, a folk music practitioner and singer from West Bengal, India. I enjoy singing songs from different folk genres with my Dotara, the very traditional folk instrument. I find myself blessed to have got the opportunity of learning from my Gurus Sri Kali Dasgupta and Sri Shibabrata Karmakar(Bhromara). I received the National scholarship in 2008 which opened my path for fieldworks and research. I have been a theatre worker for a long duration contributing with my music and compositions. I consider myself a student of folk music and have been dedicated to learning it from my Gurus and from people residing in distant villages and cities by paying visits and spending time with the natives. I believe in collection, preservation and spreading of the rich folk culture of my land. Looking forward to make you a part of my journey...!
