From November 16th to November 20th, 2023, the 16th World Wushu Championships will be held in Dallas, Texas. It will be twenty-eight years since the last time the World Wushu Championships, affectionately dubbed “Worlds” by the Wushu community, returns to the USA, having previously been held in 1995 at Baltimore, Maryland. As a sport, modern Wushu is standardized into two competition categories; Taolu (套路； tàolù), the practice of forms and sequences, and Sanshou (散手； sànshǒu, free hand), the practice of freestyle sparring and scientific martial applications, also known as Sanda (散打； sàndǎ, free fighting). Get ready to see these exciting competition events at the biggest Wushu competition next year! 🙂
