Barber came to me from a rescue. His foster home described him as being shy, and not that into people. That was not my experience with him. He bonded with me immediately, and he was such a sweet boy. He didn’t like being handled, but he loved attention and to play. He’d even run up to me and grab my hand when he wanted a game of chase. He didn’t like treats much, but he adored his Shunamite mix. He’d get so excited for it, he’d ignore treats. He was also a sneaky boy, who would run up behind Baker, nip his heels, and then run off. It drove Baker crazy. When bringing home rats, you never know how long you’ll have with them. I only had Barber for about 8-9 months, but I made them the best months for him. He had everything he could want, and I adored him and his happy little face. Barber’s respiratory system basically crashed. It happened so fast, I barely had time to respond. The emergency vet suspects that he might have had a heart problem, or a secondary infection. He declined so fast, and his prognosis was extremely poor, so I decided to let him go. He was a very good boy, my special little guy, and I’ll miss him so much.
