The profile image is a sign made in the 1930s by my grandfather for my great uncle’s tavern in eastern Minnesota. My second cousin owned the bar until recent years and gave me the sign. My parents owned a tavern in the 1950s called the El Rancho located in west-central Wisconsin, and I’m an aficionado of American dining, dancing and drinking history.
