Fr. Joseph Iannuzzi: "Remember, in St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians, he states that before Christ comes again, the Church must be prepared for His return. So prepared must the Church be that when Christ returns, He must find her in an unblemished, state, without spot, stain or wrinkle.

So the question is...if Christ returns to find the Church in an immaculate state, what is it that prepares the Church for this immaculacy? Do you suppose that if Christ were to return today, He would find the Church in a state of immaculacy?

So, something, therefore, must prepare the church for its bridal encounter, as reported in the Book of Revelation, where the Lamb of God meets His spouse, the Church, the bride, and the bridegroom, in this nuptial encounter.

What will prepare the church, which is the bride of Christ, for this divine nuptial encounter, this wedding of the Lamb and His Church, if not the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Virgin Mary?

The Holy Spirit is preparing the Church for this nuptial encounter. But it doesn't happen overnight. This preparation period takes a long time. This is the meaning of the end times. The Holy Spirit is preparing the Church, the bride of Christ, of, which we are the members, to enter into a state of divinization, of sanctification, where we no longer offend God grievously, where we enter into a state still in our historical pilgrimage on earth, still in a state in which we all need the seven Sacraments, still in a state where we still need the hierarchy and the Church and the Sacraments, as I mentioned, but without the enslavement of sin.

Certainly after we are born, after we are conceived and born, the law of sin remains in us. The inclination to sin concupiscence remains in us, but our cooperation with that inclination may be controlled.

And that is what the Holy Spirit is doing, preparing us to enter into the state of divinization whereby God Himself, in specific, the Holy Spirit, is empowering our wills, intellects and memories to resist the inclination to sin.

And the Holy Spirit is preparing this on a global scale. So the Holy Spirit, as, Pope John Paul II said and Pope John XXIII said, we are preparing for a New Pentecost. The Holy Spirit is unleashing Himself.

Again, this expression, New Pentecost, means that God, through the third Person of the Trinity, is about to sanctify the earth and all its inhabitants. This has begun locally, individually, in certain souls that have already given themselves completely to God. But it has not yet occurred on a global scale.

And this global event will not occur without a purification, but with a purification. God will reveal to us at a certain point in human history our sins as He sees them. And this will produce compunction, contrition, and the desire to go to confession. This prepares us for sanctification, for divinization, and it takes time, you see?"
