Hi,

I'm Kirsty & welcome to my YouTube channel "Stuck in the Mud". I myself have dealt with OCD & anxiety for almost 40 years & I hope these video’s provide help to anyone suffering from the same mental health struggles. You are not your thoughts, you are so much more than that! ❤️

Stuck in the Mud

This is one of our cats she’s a Ragdoll called Pearl (she’s only 7) & she has been extremely poorly since last week when she had emergency surgery after a tumour was discovered. So just a quick check in to say I hope to be back making more content from tomorrow after a difficult week trying to help this little one recover. She’s still not out of the woods yet & I’m having to syringe feed her which is proving challenging but we’re hoping for the best! 🙏 This experience has been a good reminder to let those intrusive thoughts be there as stressful times can bring on a resurgence of those unwanted uncomfortable thoughts/feelings & overthinking/rumination in general which is not very helpful especially in such an uncertain situation. It very quickly escalates to what if I’d done this or that differently ultimately trying to problem solve in an attempt to feel less of those emotions like guilt/anxiety but this is just OCD trying to keep me stuck in questioning everything when in reality I’ve done everything I can but staying involved is just fueling the cycle. Now I have that insight into OCD & awareness of when it starts to happen I can gently take a step back from those thoughts & they do fade as quickly as they arise. So remember you may have OCD but it doesn’t have you. Stay strong 💪 you’ve got this! Xx

Stuck in the Mud

I had planned to be back filming more videos this week now my children are back to school however since Monday evening we have all been struck down with the Norovirus. 😞 It wasn’t the new start to the year I had planned however life happens & it’s a good reminder that we can’t control everything. This too shall pass & I’ll be back with more content asap! I hope you’re all doing well & I’ll see you very soon! ❤️

Stuck in the Mud

It’s OCD awareness week & many people still don’t realise how truly debilitating it really is to sufferers. I have had it for around 40 years to varying degrees of severity but I would say I have it largely under control now & I’m using my experience to educate others on YouTube. OCD has been ranked in the Top 10 most disabling disorders both physical or mental by the World Health Organisation. It isn’t about being neat, clean & organised (I wish!) it’s about being riddled with constant scary intrusive thoughts & urges to carry out repetitive compulsions/rituals in a bid to stop or control them. Everyone gets intrusive uncomfortable thoughts from time to time but they recognise what they are & easily discard them. These intrusive unwanted thoughts do not align with our true values or moral code so OCD sufferers like me become obsessive over them & then we get even more of them. We often use unhelpful coping strategies to try & manage them when in reality it’s making them worse. Now I have a different relationship with my thoughts realising they don’t define me & I can let them be there without engaging with them so they fade as any other thought would, that’s how we get better. I wouldn’t wish this disorder on anyone, when people say they are ‘so OCD’ I don’t blame them as they just don’t understand because the narrative spread by the media is often wrong or uninformed. Just know it is a severely life changing & challenging disorder especially when you lose your ability to function normally day to day. Sadly I have been in this position more than once in my life but I’m happy to be doing so much better & now teaching people that healing from OCD IS possible! ❤️‍🩹

Stuck in the Mud

Hi thank you to all who have taken the time to watch & support my channel so far. When I started Stuck In The Mud coming up to a year ago my mission was simple, to give something back to the community of people with OCD & Anxiety to which I have so much in common. I myself a sufferer for 40 years, I truly know how devastating & debilitating it can be when it begins to affect our ability to function normally in life. I have gained so much knowledge in that time & believe I can help people finally come to a place of healing where before they may have struggled. Recovery can be difficult with this mental health disorder but it’s not impossible & I myself can testify to this as I know it can be done. My future hopes for the channel are to offer more services to give individual support to sufferers. I would ultimately like my own personal trials & tribulations with OCD be someone else’s recovery because I now know what needs to be done in order to achieve this. I would like to grow my channel in order to help a wider OCD & Anxiety community, for that to happen I need interaction with subscribers, likes & comments. As in recent months things have slowed down & I feel like I’m taking a step back after an initial wonderful response for which I’m extremely appreciative. So I am looking for suggestions on what YOU the viewers would like to see on my channel in order to achieve more growth. I would be very grateful if you could take part in my poll below & please comment with any ideas you may have. Kind regards Kirsty! 😊❤️ Xx

Stuck in the Mud

Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well. I’m doing some research for upcoming video’s & wanted to ask if you had ever used medication to help with your OCD/Anxiety symptoms for example SSRI, SNRI’s. Please select the box which best applies to you. Many thanks, Kirsty. 😊

Stuck in the Mud

Finally feeling a bit better, so just uploaded a NEW video to my channel. Am I a bad person? As an OCD sufferer it is one of those questions we frequently ask ourselves in relation to the thoughts we think, our words & actions. However it doesn’t have to be this way, we are so much more than any of this & don’t deserve to have OCD control our lives any longer. https://youtu.be/Gb_VYzlp1Ow?si=rZsVt...
