Backrooms (2026) Movie Review

As I have been making Backrooms Content for some time, you know I had to go see the new A24 Backrooms movie, and here are my thoughts:

Overall it was a pretty enjoyable watch. It felt very much like an extension of the Kane Pixels Backrooms YouTube series, with the budget allowing for better set designs, and bigger names in the acting department. The cinematography and the music were the standouts, they really set the scene and added a lot of tension and immersion when exploring, and during the handheld camera sections.

The story was… an interesting addition, it’s not the direction I would have gone in. The added nuance and complexity of the plot did border into the messy at times. I guess it made it more personable and palatable for general audiences, even if it took time away from the things the fans wanted to see.

It’s definitely set up for a sequel based on the ending. I just hope we see more of the Backrooms and more tense scenes and bloodcurdling reveals (like the Laundry, Christmas Tree or Final Chase scenes).

I’d love for this to do well and open the door for more online horror content hitting the big screen. By the looks of it, it’s doing just that.

What’s Next?

I want to start this update by expressing regret at my previous post. I was very rash in my response, and clearly the situation has developed and isn’t as clear-cut as was originally presented. Zeal’s document laid out his perspective, for me, convincingly, so I apologise if I, in any way, added to the perceived pile-on in the immediate aftermath.

I didn’t need to say anything, I probably shouldn’t have, but in the moment I simply couldn’t handle the pressure, the irony. From now on, I’m just gonna shut up and let things play out. Then, I will decide what to do next, when the decision arises.

In the meantime, plans are in place to fill the rather large gaps in the channel, with three new series and videos on new games in the works:

Pressure Monster Guide will not continue.

Following disturbing allegations made by former Pressure composer Ren, regarding the conduct and actions of owner Zeal & the broader Dev team, I cannot in good conscience continue the series.

These revelations are as disappointing and disgusting to me as they probably are to you, and I hope Ren and all those affected are able to find the comfort and support they need.

While I am proud to have created a 70+ video playlist for the game’s players to enjoy, it will ultimately bring a sour aftertaste that it will be associated with such despicable actions. The videos will remain up as a testament to my work, but I do not want to be associated with the game, in its current or any future form.

It turns out the real monsters were on the other side of the screen.

This year, we welcomed another 32,000 to the Jamboree, a massive thank you to all who watched or subscribed this year!

I truly believe that 2026 will be my year to breakthrough and get that Silver Play Button, so make sure to stay tuned for more of the games you love, and maybe some new titles too.

Due to a trip abroad (🇲🇹🇫🇷🇮🇹), Pressure Monster Guides for the ‘Operation Heartburn’ expedition will be delayed by about a week.

I will get them up ASAP when I’m back, but the Roblox Events continue to catch me at times when I’m away 😭

I also plan on beginning the Forsaken Killers/Survivors Shorts Series once other games quieten down, plus Entity Guides for games mentioned in a previous post (namely Rooms & Doors, and The Foundation) as their own long-form videos.

The Hunt: Mega Edition & March Updates

So The Hunt is back on the 13th March, with new content that I will cover 14th - 16th. As I mainly stick to Roblox Horror, I'm only doing badge tutorials for Pressure, Regretevator and A Dusty Trip.

On top of this, I'll be adding to the Pressure Monster Guide for the new things with 'The Hunted'. Updates to Shrek In The Backrooms and potentially Doors are also anticipated, so it could be a very busy March. I am going away on the 17th (🇩🇰🇫🇴) but will be back on the 22nd to put together any videos on stuff I have missed xx
