Five Minutes with God

She used to walk past this beach every day without stopping. 🌅

This is a story about a woman facing a terminal illness — and how, in her final months, the smallest things became everything. Walking. Eating a simple meal. Having a roof over her head. Things most of us never think twice about.

Five Minutes with God

Do you ever feel like your prayers are too small for God?

You're not bothering Him.

You're not interrupting Him.

You're His child.

Every whispered prayer matters because you matter.

📖 "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." — 1 Peter 5:7

Five Minutes with God

💛 "It was such a small prayer... I almost didn't pray it."

Have you ever wondered if God really cares about the little things?

Not the life-changing prayers.

Not the impossible situations.

Just... the small things that matter only to you.

A young boy once walked into school every morning with the same quiet disappointment.

His classroom felt empty.

There were plenty of students in other grades, but in his class...

It was just him.

Every day he sat alone.

Every group activity felt different.

Every recess reminded him he had no classmate to laugh with.

When summer vacation finally arrived, he made a decision.

Instead of complaining...

He prayed.

Not for toys.

Not for money.

Not even for better grades.

He simply whispered,

"Lord... would You please send another boy to my class next year?"

It seemed like such a tiny request.

Months passed.

School started again.

He walked into his classroom...

And nothing had changed.

Still alone.

His heart sank.

Maybe God had bigger things to worry about.

Maybe this prayer was too small.

Or maybe...

God had simply said no.

Even so, he kept praying.

Day after day.

Week after week.

Without seeing a single sign that anything was changing.

Then one ordinary morning...

His teacher smiled.

"I have some news," she said.

"We're getting a new student."

The boy's eyes widened.

His heart started racing.

Then came the next sentence...

"It's a boy."

He could hardly believe what he was hearing.

"But wait..."

There was one more question he was almost afraid to ask.

"What grade?"

His teacher smiled again.

"Your grade."

At that moment, the little prayer he had whispered months before suddenly felt enormous.

Not because God had finally answered.

But because he realized...

God had been listening the whole time.

Sometimes we stop praying because our requests seem too small.

We think God only cares about world-changing problems.

But Scripture paints a different picture.

Jesus noticed children.

He noticed sparrows.

He noticed widows.

He noticed tears that no one else saw.

If something matters to you...

It matters to your Heavenly Father.

Not every prayer is answered the way we hope.

And not every answer comes when we expect.

But never mistake God's silence for His absence.

He is working even when you cannot yet see it.

📖 "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." — Matthew 21:22

Five Minutes with God

💔 Everyone kept skiing... except one teenager.

No one applauded him.

No one posted about what he did.

Most people probably forgot it ever happened.

But Heaven didn't.

Picture this.

It's a freezing winter evening. Snow is falling. A group of teenagers are laughing as they race down a ski hill, enjoying every moment.

Among them is a young man who has dreamed of skiing.

But every attempt ends the same way.

He falls.

Again.

And again.

Years earlier, a devastating accident had left one side of his body weak. What seemed easy for everyone else was an exhausting struggle for him. Every fall was another reminder that he wasn't like the others.

He tried anyway.

Then came another fall.

This time, he couldn't get back up.

The other skiers kept going.

But one teenager stopped.

He could have enjoyed the rest of the evening with his friends. Instead, he chose something far more valuable.

He walked over, reached out his hand, and helped his friend stand.

Minutes later...

Another fall.

Again, he helped him up.

Then another.

And another.

By the end of the night, he had spent almost the entire evening lifting someone else instead of entertaining himself.

To everyone watching, it probably looked like he had wasted his night.

But Heaven saw it differently.

Because God measures greatness differently than the world does.

While people notice trophies, achievements, and applause...

God notices compassion.

He notices the person who quietly serves.

The one who stays behind to help.

The one who encourages when no one is watching.

The one who chooses love over convenience.

Maybe today, God isn't asking you to do something spectacular.

Maybe He's asking you to notice the person everyone else walks past.

The coworker carrying invisible burdens.

The lonely neighbor.

The exhausted parent.

The friend who smiles but is silently falling apart.

Sometimes the greatest miracle you can offer someone isn't a solution.

It's simply refusing to leave them lying in the snow.

Jesus has done exactly that for us.

Every time we've stumbled.

Every time we've fallen.

Every time we've felt too weak to stand.

He never walked past us.

He reached down, lifted us up, and stayed with us.

And every time we do the same for someone else, Heaven notices.

Because the acts of love that seem small on earth are never small to God.

People may never remember your kindness.

You may never receive recognition.

But your Father sees every unseen sacrifice.

And He never forgets.

"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them... your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." — Matthew 6:1

Five Minutes with God

What you send into the world has a way of coming back to you.

A World War II submarine fired its last torpedo... but instead of hitting the enemy, it turned around and came back.

It's a powerful reminder of Jesus' words:

"Do to others what you would have them do to you." — Matthew 7:12

Today, choose kindness. You never know whose life you'll change—or how it may come back to bless you.

🙏 If this encouraged you, leave an Amen below.

Five Minutes with God

One conversation can strengthen a relationship... or damage it.

That's why God calls us to be quick to understand, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do isn't saying more.

It's pausing.

Praying.

And letting God guide your words.

📖 "A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly." — Proverbs 14:29 (NIV)

If you're choosing patience over anger today, leave an Amen in the comments. ❤️

Five Minutes with God

Have you ever reacted too quickly... only to wish you could take your words back?

I think we've all had moments like that.

Someone disappoints us. We feel overlooked. The frustration builds, and before we know it, we're rehearsing everything we're going to say.

But one thing God has been reminding me lately is this: not every feeling needs an immediate response. Sometimes the wisest thing we can do is pause and let love speak louder than our emotions.

The devotional I read today tells the story of a teenage boy named Rod.

One afternoon, he came home from school looking forward to relaxing, but instead, his mother asked him to drive into town for groceries because his father wasn't feeling well.

By the time Rod returned, he discovered the farm chores still hadn't been done. His father was asleep, exhausted from illness, and Rod suddenly found himself doing all the work.

He was frustrated.

As he headed toward the barn, he kept thinking about how unfair everything felt. He even planned to tell his dad exactly how upset he was after supper.

But as he worked, something changed.

Instead of holding on to his anger, he began thinking about how tired his father must have been. Compassion slowly replaced frustration, and he decided to let it go.

That evening, his father came into his room and quietly said,

*"Rod, you're the best son a man ever had. I'm really sorry I left you with all the work, but I haven't been feeling good."*

Rod simply replied, *"That's okay, Dad. I'm glad I could help."*

The very next afternoon, his father passed away.

Years later, Rod said he was forever grateful that he had chosen patience instead of anger. If he had spoken out of frustration that night, those painful words would have been the last conversation he ever had with his father.

How many times have we wished we could take back words spoken in anger?

The truth is, once words leave our mouths, we can't call them back.

**"A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly." — Proverbs 14:29 (NIV)**

What a powerful reminder.

Patience isn't weakness.

It's strength under God's control.

When we pause before reacting, we give the Holy Spirit room to soften our hearts, calm our emotions, and help us respond with grace instead of regret.

Jesus modeled this perfectly.

Even when He was misunderstood, falsely accused, and deeply hurt, He chose compassion over retaliation. He invites us to do the same—not because it's easy, but because His love can transform the way we respond.

Maybe today God isn't asking you to win an argument.

Maybe He's inviting you to protect a relationship.

Maybe the text you're about to send can wait.

Maybe the conversation you're rehearsing needs another prayer before another word.

You may never regret showing grace, but you'll often regret speaking in anger.

Can I ask you something?

Is there someone you're tempted to respond harshly to today?

What would change if you paused, prayed, and let God's love guide your words instead of your emotions?

Let's pray.

Father, thank You for being patient with me even when I fail. You know how quickly my emotions can take over, and You see the moments when frustration wants to control my words. Please help me slow down before I react. Fill my heart with compassion, wisdom, and self-control. Teach me to see people through Your eyes and to respond with the same grace You've shown me through Jesus. Protect my relationships from careless words, and let my speech bring healing instead of hurt. Thank You that Your Spirit is changing me day by day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

**One moment of patience can prevent a lifetime of regret.**

If this spoke to your heart today, leave an **"Amen"** in the comments. ❤️
