The aim of AFIS is to build a robust financial industry to serve real economy and sustainable development.
It supports Africa’s financial industry in its transformation. It brings together the most influential leaders, regulators, and institutions of African finance. It works to improve financial inclusion and the emergence of a true pan-African industry of financial services and gives voice to the most influential players of African finance.
AFIS is actively committed to contributing to the success of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which should accelerate the integration and growth of Africa’s financial sector.
Founded by Jeune Afrique Media Group in 2021, with the support of IFC (World Bank Group), AFIS is a sister organization of the AFRICA CEO FORUM, the leading platform of the African private sector.
Africa Financial Summit - AFIS
🏛️ AFIS Voices | In conversation with Jean-Claude Kassi Brou
- Governor of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO)
🎙️ In this AFIS Voices interview, Jean-Claude Kassi Brou shares a clear vision of the priorities facing Africa’s financial sector at a moment of global uncertainty.
📢 Speaking from Casablanca, he highlights AFIS as a platform where decision-makers across banking, insurance, capital markets and public institutions come together to shape the continent’s financial future.
💬 “AFIS today is an essential platform for all actors in Africa’s financial ecosystem.”
📌 At the core of his message is a simple reality. External resources are declining. Africa must rely more on its own savings.
🎤 “Africa saves around 500 billion dollars, yet less than 10 to 15 percent is actually reinvested.”
🎓 Mobilising domestic resources, strengthening SMEs, investing in energy and transport infrastructure, and accelerating digitalisation are, in his view, the most urgent levers to support growth, jobs and financial inclusion.
🌍 A call for collective action, innovation and stronger financial sovereignty across the continent.
