I am extremely happy to share that I am officially Board Certified with the National Institute for Dementia Education - NIDE! 🧠👏

I knew this was the certification for me the moment I started the curriculum. It is some of my favorite foundational dementia education I have ever received. (You know it’s good when you’re giddy and want to share with everyone after every training!) 🤯🙌

A huge thank you to Dr. Joshua Freitas, Ph.D. , whose work I have been a big fan of for years! Learning from you is such a gift. Thank you for your dedication to your work and for creating such an empowering learning experience. 🫶🏻

DEMENTIA & ALZHEIMER’S ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE

This is the sentence that made everything click for me.

“They have dementia (a set of symptoms/syndrome) BECAUSE of their Alzheimer’s disease”.

The dementia is caused by the #alzheimersdisease 🧠

Meaning: Dementia doesn’t always = Alzheimer’s disease (it can be caused by over 120 reasons) but Alzheimer’s disease will ALWAYS lead to dementia (a set of symptoms).
