Hey Everyone! The video I filmed at City of Morro Bay’s wastewater treatment plant about SCADA is finished and got final approval from Grant (SCADA expert extraordinaire) today! I will be publishing it Monday morning July 6th. We trace the signal backwards. From the screen that operators watch, all the way to the sensor in the tank. Oh and we have a special guest appearance from a Water Bear! Keep an eye out for it Monday morning.

Cool news everyone! Gotta set up the premise first: I usually live stream and give live trainings from my office at work. My house is very loud with 2 younglings pinging off the wall and I don’t have a lot of options for quiet space.

Work can be distracting even when I’m off the clock (alarms going off, people wanting to talk, vendors knocking on the door, etc). Brainstormed some ideas with my boss and finally settled on purchasing a Starlink Roam! Now I can stream anywhere with a clear view of the sky. This purchase and service plan was made solely from my monetized channel (ad revenue from views and members). Thank you all so much for your support. The channel keeps getting better and more versatile.

Speaking of which: Chief Members your member only livestream will be Monday the 29th at noon. Let’s take this Starlink out for a spin somewhere!

After an awesome day at the wastewater treatment plant changing out diffusers in aeration, I logged onto my YouTube account to see this! 6,000 subscribers! Thank you all so much for your support. Oh, and I most definitely made a video about us draining aeration, removing, and replacing the blown out diffusers. I will talk about why we did it, the indicators that signaled to us that it needed to happen, and how we will benefit from it moving forward. Look for that video to come out mid to late July!

Excited to share that my Industrial Wastewater Treatment video just got it’s final edit approved by the company that gave me the tour of their plant (Nviro)! This video will go public Monday morning June 22 so keep a lookout for it. We discuss how industrial compares to municipal wastewater treatment. Then we do a plant tour of their brand new, state of the art Membrane Bioreactor which uses flow equalization, rotary drum screening, a roughing filter, activated sludge, membrane filtration, and finally aerobic digestion. We spend time at each stage getting into detail on what happens at each step.

Lots of great real life ops and exam info in this one!!

Big news everyone! I have been invited by Jessica Rozek and Water Environment Federation to attend WEFTEC in New Orleans September 27-30! I will be volunteering for Operations Challenge, as well as making a YouTube video showcasing Operations Challenge for The Wastewater Enthusiast!

I’ll also be presenting a 30 minute chat about Breakpoint Chlorination in their new Workforce Hub which will be free and open to anyone attending WEFTEC.

It was so fun being invited to the City of Morro Bay to film a video on SCADA! I was accompanied by the award winning Grant Chase to explain how operators utilize SCADA to run wastewater treatment and drinking water treatment plants. We were even joined by an operator we bumped into that gave amazing insight on how controls technicians and operators work together. Pictures below for a little preview.
