Living and working in rural China at 50, I’ve often been asked how ordinary low-income couples like us relax and take a break from busy daily life.

No fancy scripts, no staged scenes. This video records a real one-day road trip I took with my husband — we drove deep into the mountains, rode a bamboo raft, visited a quiet waterfall, and cooked warm mushroom hot pot right by the shallow river stream.

We brought all our own ingredients and cookware from home, only paid a small fee for the riverside shaded stall, and spent the whole day playing in cool water, sipping tea, and slowing down completely away from factory work and household chores.

Every moment and feeling comes straight from my real daily life as a 50-year-old woman in the Chinese countryside. You don’t need expensive travel or fancy plans to feel rested and happy. Simple days spent with the people you care about are the most healing.

Ever wondered what rural China is really like in 2026? Come join me for a full tour of my village life, where we’ll explore everything from daily facilities to farm work and quiet nights.
In this video, I’ll show you the modern side of our village: the local supermarket, primary school, clinic, and convenient transportation that make life here so easy. We’ll also stop by small local shops—like the fast food place with 2 chicken burgers for 12 yuan, the barber shop with 10-yuan haircuts, and even a matchmaking agency for local singles.
Then we head out to the fields, where we grow wheat and corn as our main crops. I’ll show you how we harvest rapeseed by hand, spread it on the road to dry and thresh, and share how much cooking oil we can get from 100 jin of seeds. With rain coming tomorrow, everyone’s rushing to finish the harvest before it’s too late.
As night falls, you’ll see the quiet, peaceful side of village life—just streetlights, soft crickets, and slow walks with my dog. No rush, no chaos, just simple, real life in rural China.
