Last year, I made a video about inventing the "WheelStand", a wheeled kickstand for the OneWheel. About a week ago, I was surprised to find this product being sold on Amazon. It was surprising because I wasn't selling it, nor had I given permission to anyone to produce and sell it.
So of course, I had to buy one.
Upon receiving the knockoff WheelStand, it was obvious that it was 3D printed directly from the files I posted online (the files which expressly prohibit commercial use in the license terms). However, it was 3D printed with about 3 wall perimeters and 15% infill, seemingly out of PLA. Unsurprisingly, it immediately snapped upon testing.
There's a bunch of other quality issues with the knockoff (which I'll cover in an upcoming video), and Eden was able to snap the remaining pieces by hand.
Now... I AM aware that by putting this idea into the world (without patenting it), I created the opportunity for someone to steal the idea and pass it off as their own.
However, that doesn't change the fact that stealing ideas without attribution or permission is fundamentally un-cool, and an incredibly low quality version of something that I DESIGNED is something that I DO NOT want to exist out in the world.
So, I would love your help in getting this item removed from Amazon!
Please report the product as counterfeit, leave 1-star reviews... anything you can think of to pressure Amazon and/or the seller to remove the item from Amazon! I'm not super-savvy at this sort of stuff, so comment with your suggestions on additional ways to get this item taken down!
