Was holding off posting this but Jade and I had to cancel several trips because I had an emergency on my birthday two weeks ago where a rush of floaters blinded me. Had a vitrctomy done and it went well! There was no tear or retinal detachment, and no more floaters. The complication was caused from my intraocular implant losing its seating, which may be a need for replacement soon as well. Recovery only needs me face down for a few days versus a full week. Now Jade and I are eating at Red Robin, where Darika took me after my cataract surgery 12 years ago.

Things I need to make up for is an elementary school class DJ workshop, a lightsaber rave I was supposed to throw, Star Wars Nite at Disneyland on May 4th for our anniversary, the Michael Jackson film, and the Bruno Mars concert.

A successful mission to and from the moon by the crew of Artemis II! Congratulations to the crew as well as who worked hands on this mission! While I know it’s unlikely most of them will ever see my post, I will however tag NASA aerospace engineer, fellow Iowan and lightsaber flow artist April Choi ‪@AprilJenniferChoi‬ , to thank you all for your service to humanity!

If you didn’t know, here are the names of the crew:

Reid Weisman - Commander (USA)
Victor Glover - Pilot (USA)
Christina Koch - Mission Specialist (USA)
Jeremy Hansen - Mission Specialist (Canada)

And in addition to their mission and scientific discoveries, they achieved the following:

1. First human space flight to the moon since Apollo 17 in 1972.
2. Farthest human space travel ever, over 250,000, breaking the record of Apollo 13 in 1970.
3. First woman to travel the lunar vicinity.
4. First person of color to travel the lunar vicinity.
5. First Canadian to travel the lunar vicinity.
6. First to provide high definition images of the moon’s far side, along with new Earthset images.
7. First Return Correction Burn: Successfully completed the first deep-space return correction burn by a crewed Orion spacecraft, adjusting its trajectory back to Earth.
8. First ship-to-ship communication between two spacecraft on independent missions, between Orion and the ISS.

Humanity has a lot of work to do and times aren’t exactly at their brightest. But I hope Artemis II is the beginning to inspire people to dream big, to gain the will to discover and explore, so that we all can one day boldly go.
