Okay, the reason Wednesday might not feel fully in character is because these scenes are meant to show her acting more childlike. I based that version of her on Lisa Loring’s Wednesday from the original Addams Family, who was much more expressive and vulnerable. That was intentional.

I think the moments people found the most “out of character” were the tearing up scenes and the smile, but honestly, Wednesday in the show isn’t that far off. We’ve already seen her cry twice, tear up multiple times, and even smile more than people expected. So this interpretation is more like leaning into a side of her that already exists, just a bit more openly.
