This was one of those days where I was at a bit of a loss on what to sketch. Nothing was really sparking my imagination, and I had no idea where to begin. I started thinking about the Meraki Meadow and all the many little businesses throughout it. Fiona's Flavors Ice Cream, the Cardinal Coffee Shoppe, Bea's Bed and Breakfast... and I wondered, who's painting all of those signs and logos?



Meet Calvin, the Meraki Meadow sign painter! You can always find him walking around the meadow with his trusty brushes and a fresh can of paint 💛

In truth, this isn't one of my favorite pieces in my sketchbook. The process was tedious with lots of trying and erasing and trying again. For a moment there, I actually considered ripping the page out and trying a whole different idea. But this was a good reminder to trust the process and finish what I've started. You never know how it'll turn out...

Happy Meraki Monday!! Lately I've been meditating on the idea of holding my to-do's with an open hand. Much as I would love to be a "get all the things done" kind of person, the reality is, every day looks different. Every day holds its own challenges. Unexpected things come up, and all those things we wanted to achieve might not be feasible in a day.

At the core of it, I'm learning to trust that God is sovereign over all the things I accomplish AND all the things I do not. If I don't get to a task today, it simply wasn't one that truly needed my attention. I'll trust that there will be space and time for it tomorrow, and if not, then maybe it wasn't a necessary task in the first place (tbh, I have quite a few of those sometimes... 😅)

The sweetness of small moments…
I’ve been meditating on this topic a lot over the past few months. That first sip of coffee in the morning. Listening to the soft snore of your pup. The way a sunset never looks the same way twice.
While we all love to talk about the extraordinary moments in our lives, I think there’s something extra special about the simple ones. It’s these small, mundane, everyday moments that make up the majority of our lives. How could they be anything less than lovely?

Fallow: cultivated land that is allowed to lie idle during the growing season.


I think we all go through fallow seasons. As creatives, as parents, as employees, as friends… In a go-go-go world, it’s easy to view the fallow as laziness. As apathy. As simply not trying hard enough. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth.


Fallow is a GIFT. It’s a season of rest, recovery, and rejuvenation. It’s a BEAUTIFUL and it’s a NECESSARY season that allows us to be able to put the most of ourselves into the things we love.


That’s what inspired this new Meraki Meadow illustration. Sometimes I need the reminder that, though the fallow isn’t always the most comfortable place to be, it’s absolutely beautiful in its own way.

Creative block and burnout. So often creatives believe this is the very worst place to be (and I’ll be honest, it CAN be uncomfy), but what if I told you this season of your creative practice is actually NECESSARY?

When I was crunching the numbers to start the Meraki Mail Club, I set a goal of 15 patrons in the first month. I didn't announce this goal (mostly because I didn't want to be embarrassed if I didn't reach it 😅) Aaaand, I didn't reach 15.

I reached 17.

This may sound like a relatively small number, but to me it means the world. It means that 17 people want to make my art a part of their homes. 17 people want to hear my thoughts and read my letters. 17 people are giving me the opportunity to pour into their lives. How could that ever be small?


Anyhoo, the April envelopes are on their way to the post office, and I CAN'T WAIT for you to get them!

I know I’ve been yapping about the Meraki Mail Club A LOT lately, but I truly couldn’t be more excited! My heart is so full from all the support I’ve gotten with it, and I can’t wait to mail out the first envelope.



I’m always brainstorming new ways that I can serve and inspire you in your own creative practice, and I truly believe this is one of the best ways I can do that.
