I set out to build an app. I ended up learning what it actually takes.
Patchd started as one idea: a single tool that does everything a creator needs for audio, simple enough for anyone stepping into it.
What followed was months of going way deeper than I expected, a C++ audio engine, my own ASIO bridge, a kernel-level driver, and a crash course in everything around the product.
So I put together some thoughts about that journey. The stuff I got quoted, the stuff that doubled my timeline, the work nobody see’s, and why the ideas never stop.
Excited to share that I'm launching my own app. (Soon) also, hello been a long time.
It's called Patchd, a virtual audio mixer and routing platform for streamers, podcasters, and producers. But honestly, the thing I'm most proud of is everything it took to get here.
This started as an idea to build one tool that encompasses everything a creator could need for audio, and to make it easy enough for anyone just stepping into that world. It turned into one of the most challenging and rewarding things I've ever built. I've spent months going way deeper than I ever expected. Designing the app itself, then building a real C++ audio engine underneath it, and eventually getting my own ASIO bridge working for true low-latency routing. Every layer taught me something I didn't know going in.
It's been a genuinely fun problem to live inside. The kind where you lose track of time because you actually want to solve the next piece.
I'm self-funding this and building it for the exact community I'm already part of, which is what makes finally putting it out there feel real.
It's not launched yet, but it's close. I put together a full breakdown of what it does and where it's headed. Take a look, and if it speaks to you, you can join the waitlist while you're there:
Creating a YouTube channel is a weird journey - burnout and overall lack of interest in creating the same type of content has had me at a standstill for awhile - but I wonder if a shift in perspective could change all of that... and maybe combining my desire to create what I want with what my audience wants to see is a possible doable combination
Hey YouTube 👋 I haven't forgotten about you at all - I am actively changing things up as a creator and finding my own voice on this platform.. its taking me some time to refine and find that joy through the experience - But, I am doing my best to be back as soon as I can.
Thanks for your patience as you wait for more content from me :)
