If you’re looking for low-cost Christmas ideas that still feel magical, cozy, and intentional, this year our family is focusing on simple, handmade holiday traditions. These budget-friendly projects use supplies you probably already have at home, and they’re perfect for kids, slow afternoons, or anyone wanting a calmer, more meaningful December. Here are the five decorations and activities we’re making together this year:
✨ 1. Paper Chain Garland + Dried Oranges A classic, nostalgic Christmas craft. We’re making long paper chains from construction paper and pairing them with dried orange slices for a warm, old-fashioned look. It’s inexpensive, kid-friendly, and adds the prettiest natural touch to your tree or mantle.
⭐ 2. Paper Bag Stars These stunning 3D stars look like something from a boutique holiday shop, but they’re made from brown paper lunch bags! A few folds, a glue stick, and a string—and suddenly you have beautiful statement décor for pennies.
🎨 3. Printable Painting Activity for Kids We printed a simple holiday design and let the kids paint or color it however they want. It doubles as an easy afternoon activity and a keepsake you can display or gift to grandparents.
📆 4. Advent Coloring Page Countdown Instead of buying a new countdown calendar, we’re using a printable Advent coloring sheet. The kids color in one square each day, which builds the excitement and gives them a calm morning or evening moment to look forward to.
🌿 5. Tissue Paper Wreath This one costs almost nothing and turns out surprisingly pretty. We’re using tissue paper from old gift bags and shaping it into a fluffy wreath. It’s perfect on a bedroom door or as a festive craft for little hands.
These low-cost Christmas crafts remind me that you don’t have to spend a lot to create a festive, memorable holiday season. Simple, handmade, and budget-friendly can still feel really beautiful
Guys! 120 of you! 🥹 I seriously can’t believe it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here, for hanging out with me every week, and I am so excited for what’s to come. 💛 #youtube#vlog
