We’ve just released a new video featuring a narrowboat with no 12-volt power, a tunnel with no lights, locks, a couple of hire-boat rescues and, somehow, a very respectable potato salad. Because we may be temporarily powerless, but we do have standards.

So, if you’ve genuinely got nothing better to do today, or you simply fancy joining us on the North Oxford Canal, give it a watch and chuck us a thumbs-up. It all helps keep this little channel rolling and us mildly convinced we know what we’re doing. 😂

Today’s progress report:

Miles travelled: Not many.
Hours spent stationary: Most of them.
Average cruising speed: Approximately the same as a moored narrowboat.

After an incident on the bridge, we’ve spent the day parked on the M5. Traffic was being turned around, then it wasn’t. Two cars behind us broke down. One was rescued. One remains.

The good news? While sitting completely still, we’ve managed to upload, process and publish a brand-new YouTube video. So technically we’ve been more productive in a motorway queue than we are on some normal days.

At this point, it would genuinely have been quicker by boat.

If you’d like to ease our suffering, grab a brew and give the latest video a watch. We’ve had plenty of time to upload it.

The Massive Adventure

We are absolutely flabbergasted, gobsmacked, and thoroughly humbled that over 40,000 views have floated their way to our little YouTube channel!
When we first picked up a camera (the wrong way round, probably) and started rambling on about narrowboat life, we thought maybe five people—Hi Kids!—might watch.

Never in our wildest dreams did we think our mildly chaotic, often incoherent, and occasionally crisps-muffled commentary would be watched by so many of you lovely humans.
We’ve loved every moment of learning how to film, edit, tell our story (and not drop the phone in the canal(fail)). It’s been a crash course in video-making, but it’s also been a joy—and we’re genuinely grateful we’ve got this ever-growing log of memories to look back on in years to come.
