Adelita by Francisco Tárrega. Another oldie but goodie. I remember learning this when I first switched over to classical guitar. Great piece by a great composer
So sad to hear of the passing of Kazuhito Yamashita.
He was one of my favorite guitarists, and one of the most unique artists our instrument has ever known.
I’ll never forget his recording of Pictures at an Exhibition — not just because it was technically unbelievable, but because of the way he played it: with passion, boldness, and a kind of wild, fearless intensity that you don’t often hear.
He took risks. He played like something was truly at stake. He wasn’t trying to be perfect — he was trying to say something.
Yamashita expanded what we thought the classical guitar could do. He raised the ceiling for all of us.
Rest in peace, Maestro. Thank you for the music, the inspiration, and the courage to be truly original.
